Kalnon Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 Hello, I decided to go big and get a big boy HOTAS after years of using cheap Thrustmaster HOTAS's. I looked at various brands and the one I like best is Winwing. I'm trying to decide between their Orion2 HOTAS Metal Warthog and their Orion2 HOTAS MAX. Is there a big difference between the two? Can someone explain the main differences please? I'm trying to decide if it's worth the extra $100 for the MAX version or not. I want to go big but I am still on a budget and I need to spend my money wisely. I'm also confused about the different throttle grip options as it does not show what they look like or what the advantages are for the more expensive ones. Can someone please explain the differences in the throttle grips for me? Thank you
speed-of-heat Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 the bases are identical on both sets the stick has extra buttons , you can see this with a mk 1 eyeball, and also has the vibration function enabled finger lifts on throttles is the only difference there ... Allo Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 They're the same other than...... * Finger lifts on the Throttle * 16EX Shaker Kit on the Stick. These can be purchased and added on at a later date if need be. Kalnon Posted June 10, 2024 Author Posted June 10, 2024 Okay I see, thank you guys. It would be nice to have force feedback and the more buttons the better but I don't know if I want to spend an extra $100 for that. Question, what is a finger lift?

When flying most modern jets, there are different throttle settings such as Off, Idle Cutoff and Afterburner. The throttle has detents in these positions and the finger lifts allow you to intentionally get past the detents. They also prevent accidentally pushing past a detent. The detents are another piece to the Winwing finger lift kit and they are adjustable for different aircraft. 1
Kalnon Posted June 10, 2024 Author Posted June 10, 2024 (edited) Thank you, now I understand the finger lifts. My last question is what is the difference between the three throttle grip options and what are they exactly? It really doesn't show any pictures or descriptions of what they are or the difference is. Edit: never mind the question, I see the difference now when I switch between the three options I can see the shape of the throttle grip change. Thank you all for your help, I greatly appreciate it. Kalnon Posted June 10, 2024 Author Posted June 10, 2024 I see the joystick base is designed also for helicopters which I am also interested in flying. I have the Huey and I plan to buy more helicopters in the future. I think I'm sold on these HOTAS's, either one of the two look awesome. Now I just have to decide which one...
