I just used some Caig Deoxit Silicone Fader Grease (dhg-213) that never really worked well on my audio mixer faders, but has improved the feel of the stick by a zillion times. Just cleaned and then applied some to the underside of the plastic swash plate disk. BAM! Quiet, smooth, just the right amount of resistance, and with all the subtlety I could want in the stick inputs. Who needs fly-by-wire? heh heh

X52 + Silicone Grease = JOY stick

I bought some spray silicone grease from Maplin as a solution for this problem of sticky feeling x52, been like this since about a month after I got it :/ . It didn't work very well though, the consistency was not what I expected, is was clear and watery and didn't really improve the x52 at all. I thought it would be white and more "creamy", like the stuff you see on plastic gears inside the likes of DVD drives and radio controlled cars etc.

What is the Fader grease like?

IIRC silicon grease and silicone-spray is not the same.

Especially when it's plastic against plastic the silicone-spray usually has a rather negative effect. A piece of neopren is said to improve the sticky feeling a lot.

If the stickiness still increases, you should also grease the shaft of the stick itself. Especially around the center, the plastic only touches the metal shaft at the edges, not on the whole side. So these edges cause a higher friction and the edges will smooth out, increasing angle and friction over time.

Just be sure to not use machine oils, as this will desintegrate the plastics!

Silicone grease is very thick. You don't want the spray. My Deoxit fader grease came in a little tub. Screwed up my dj mixer faders, but works wonders on the x52 swash plate...no, that's an understatement. It's transformed the stick's feel. To Caig Labs' credit, they did send me some other stuff that fixed my faders.

OK thanks for the info, I should of known that maplin wouldn't be up to scratch. They have "silicone grease" printed on the can :music_whistling:. It's hard to find these kind of things where I live, but I have not checked audio/HiTech music shops. Ill give that a go, either that or I guess order from the Internet.
