The 51st PVO Regiment is proud to announce SATAC COLD WAR! SATAC, which stands for Squadron Air to Air Championship, is our annual event that provides a prestigious platform for showcasing competitive air-to-air skills and sportsmanship, welcoming all squadrons and airframes around the world to participate! The tradition continues as we invite all competitive Air to Air squads to compete against the finest that DCS has to offer in a highly immersive and realistic cold war environment.

Our format is designed to promote the utilization of various aspects of the simulation, includes different weapon types (SARH & IR), dissimilar air combat training (DACT), the integration of (LotATC), and the full spectrum of COLD WAR-era DCS aircraft, each contributing to the dynamic and immersive environment of SATAC COLD WAR.

REGISTRATION
The sign-up deadline is 31st August 2024. Register as a squad here, citing squad name, Airframes of choice, time-zone and individual pilot callsigns. Register a GCI officer as LotATC will be provided to participating squads. We highly recommend having reserves.

FORMAT

6 vs 6; thus we highly recommend having reserves. Expect to fly shorthand against a fully rostered opposition if you don't have 6 pilots ready by match time.
A mercenary reserve pool is available for teams short on pilots.
All cold war-era aircraft will be made available: F-4E, F-14A, F-16A, F-5, AJS-37, F-1, MIG-29A, MIG-21
There will be an engagement bubble centered on bullseye, which opposing squads must control to win the round. Once you enter the bubble, you must not exit until the opposing team is neutralized. Once you leave the bubble, you cannot re-enter. You will be warned as you approach the edge of the bubble.
As an aircraft enters the bubble, a 5-minute timer will begin where all aircraft must be inside the bubble within that time. Any teammate with aircraft outside the bubble after the 5 minutes will forfeit.
At least one pilot from the winning team must control the bubble for 5-minutes and return to the home base in order to claim victory for that round.
If an aircraft takes off with an invalid weapon and then fires said weapon or enters the bubble, that round is forfeit for the offending team.
Once all gears have left the ground and the aircraft is airborne, any disconnected pilot or mishap will be considered as a loss.
Matches will be best of 3 in the preliminary rounds and best of 5 in knockout rounds.
A neutral GCI officer will be provided if a squad is unable to field one.
Communications with the GCI officer will be handled through SRS.
LotATC will be provided to participating squads.

BVR: roll-bug in all aspects - NOT ALLOWED
BVR: max rolling angle allowed - 450° per roll
MERGE: within 10km - Free maneuvers
JAMMERS: NOT ALLOWED

Note:
Pilots accused of breaking the rules will be required to provide their server tracks for review. This ensures a fair and thorough assessment of the situation. If anyone is observed using the roll-bug systematically, it will be judged at any range, even within 10km. The decisions made by moderators on this matter are not up for disputes.

Since SATAC COLD WAR is a new format for us, there will be a final vote on weapon setups for all registered participants. The payload option that receives the most votes will be the one used in the championship.

SATAC COLD WAR - Week 41
Once again, this weekend was full of intense action! Kicking things off, we had @inSky facing off against @76th SOS in an exhilarating match, filled with thrilling rounds before the final outcome was decided. This was brought to you live via stream by @airshowd.

The excitement didn't stop there! Following this, we had a battle between @9g and @[LYS], a match that saw SATAC veterans go up against newcomers, showcasing the skill levels and strategies from both sides. This match was streamed by @acewindhover, adding to the weekend’s adrenaline-filled action.

Finally, the weekend concluded with a gripping finale where @Snake went head-to-head with @[28VNG]. Every minute of the stream kept viewers on the edge of their seats, and it was skillfully streamed by @mikhavt.

The competition is heating up this weekend with a jam-packed schedule of intense matches lined up. First up on Friday at 1800z, @TORO Squadron takes on the undefeated @Snake in a must-watch battle. Moving on to Saturday at 1630z, the action continues with @RS locking locks against @[28VNG] in what promises to be a tactical masterclass. Immediately after, the undefeated @51st PVO Regiment and @[M] flying in another thrilling encounter.

Sunday brings even more excitement with three high-stakes matches. The day kicks off at 1500z when @9g goes up against @NUTS, with both teams level on points and eager to climb the standings. At 1800z, the tension will be palpable as two simultaneous matches unfold, @Phoenix Task Force, who have yet to taste defeat, square off against @[LYS] while @♔ GC ♔ faces a tough challenge against @[M].
