  1. I'm having a bug with this mission as well. I found the proper il76, get the radio calls on guard with the terrorist telling me to go away after I proper id the aircraft tail number. Once knight threatens to shoot him down he stops talking and we follow him til failure ... What gives
  2. See D4n's post here is the reason why he is banned from both the ECW and TBF discord. Servers I both help administer, and projects I've been involved with from the start. The sheer audacity and narcissism is the reason why D4n is shunned from almost every online DCS community. Imagine making the argument he has when someone has spent well over $1000.00 on initial set up, plus a few hundred hours of his own time (and even more when accounting for the staff), completely UNPAID and at cost. It's difficult to understand how someone can have such a twisted world view to make such an deranged post. All that being said, clearly we hit the nail on the head. D4n is SO upset that he's no longer allowed to play on our server that he has to throw temper tantrums anywhere he can in a vain cry for help. Maybe one day he'll sit down, do some introspection, and discard his hubris and narcissism . I won't be holding my breath, but until then we will all know that he pines for the ability to fly on TBF. Anyway guys, jump by the discord we'll have some new updates coming soon. Still working on the V2 of the campaign engine! Good hunting everyone! I had someone on Fiverr design it for me
  3. Unfortunately enabling F2F datalink requires that we put the jets into the same group which breaks our Early Warning System. We had it on for awhile and it caused issues that were unresolvable
  4. Enigma's Cold War Sister server will be here soon! This server is truly a sister server that will embodied the ideals and feel that ECW brought to the DCS MP community. The key differences are as follows: 1) Weather/Night Operations : -Given the data we acquired from ECW and the frequent asks for more inclement weather and night/dusk operations, we've decided to add more of that here. The reasoning is simple. The planes and radars are more advanced so the mk1 eyeball isn't as important as it is with the ECW plane set, which allows us to experiment with more difficult visibility conditions without alienating the target audience. You will see more varied weather and lighting conditions than you will see clear skies. If this becomes an issue, we will obviously make changes, but at the start, expect to dust off those IFR procedures. 2) Modern jets... but not too modern. MFDs are the mind killer is still somewhat of a thing; however, we've made more exceptions here to better differentiate us from the ECW planeset ... that said things we won't budge on... anything with a JHMCS so that means no hornet, no viper. Don't ask, it won't happen. Sorry. 3) Buddy Lazing, we have a planned feature to allow helicopters to drop fixed jtacs to laze strategic targets. PGMs (precision guided munitions) are allowed on this server, however, you need to work with another person in order to use them. We are experimenting with how best to do this, but the idea of soloing targets with your LGBs is not going to happen. Either ground based jtacs, or spotting aircraft/helos will be required for you to employ an PGMs. We want to allow for more modern weapon systems, but force people to work together, as they would IRL, in order to make them work. So that means no targeting pods and loads of GBUs... 4) IADS... bigger SAM threats are a thing. We are using MANTIS air defense network in order to provide and integrated air defense system. There are major SAM threats at the strategic industrial targets now. On top of that, neither team has their own ARGMs to deal with them. You'll have to work with the new SEAD flight mechanic in order to suppress these threats, and/or other get creative with your wild weaseling and toss bombing. No fire and forget HARMS here. When are we going live? - Target is the end of this month or early next month so 2-3 weeks from this post. This date may flex depending on what our close testing team finds. If you're interested in helping test, please join the discord below. Thanks! FAQ (in progress) can be found here: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1MJJC8zVGQ5zf-3UufOaffdAuZ6l7Uf6ZDO2lHrFZ4lM/edit?usp=sharing Discord Link https://discord.gg/GUeFDxKuHN Patreon Link https://www.patreon.com/tempestblueflash Please only support if you are financial able to do so. We currently do not have any recurring costs, but in order to add features like Overlord bot we'll need some community support. That said this is a project of passion, and we do not "need" financial support to bring this server to you. So please do NOT feel pressure to support unless you're just as crazy as we are. Thank you! Good Hunting.
  5. We did it as an experiment. It may/likely will be coming back in some form in the future. Right now we have been testing a more modern rear aspect mode 60s vs P
  6. Hey Talisman, 1/2.) Yes you need to find the enemy units first and place them within that 3km area. There are ALOT of frontline units so even if you mobbed with a ton of hueys it shouldn't be wasted effort in almost any scenario to drop units near the frontline and have an effect. We have additional plans for Helicopter operations to add some more roles and missions for them in the future. Since you're not on this discord you'll have to wait to see what those will be in due time, but in short we're doing a big code refactor and we aren't adding new features until that is done. As far as making the distances longer, they were much wider when the feature was first released and helo insertions can be quite powerful, we'll take the suggestion about making it bigger, but we evaluate a lot of factors when we make adjustments like that. 3.) The yellow circles indicate significant SAM threats. 4.) There are generally enough slots in Taccom for people to share. In fact, I haven't noticed it full before so I don't think there's any real need to make one a "heli ops command slot" nor really a way to enforce it even if it were named as such Thanks for enjoying our server, we have more features to come!
  7. From Enigma: "The Red Team has won Campaign #1. Congratulations to the Red Side. The campaign has been reset back to the neutral starting position, so welcome to Campaign #2. Please remember that the forward airfields are closed except for A-10s and Su-25s until the frontline moves one sector Road bases are open but require a 4 sector buffer except for A-10s. If you go through slots quickly you may run into a bug where you are blocked from slots, just reconnect. We plan to rebuild the slot blocker code in the near future. The Road Base number says what sector is required by that side to be open - we will make the naming convention more intuitive in the future. Tsbilisi and Sochi are the airfields that have everything but require longer flight times. If you wish to fly short distances, then you want to take a road base. You can always land and re-arm at road bases. Please be patient as people re-lift as the slot blocker gets a bit funky when everyone hits it at once. Thank you for making Campaign #1 very memorable, we look forward to more campaigns" From me: thank you so much for those who participated in Campaign 1, it was one helluva ride. We are honored at the response we got from the community and we are looking forward to continue to improve the campaign by adding new features and bettering performance overall. Thanks again so much for being a part of this new DCS Multiplayer Journey! Good Hunting out there!
  8. I tried to play on AW's server, Enigma turned me on to it, and I'm showcased as his wingman in a few Mig19 films. This is what got me in love with a Dynamic CW campaign idea (that and bringing FVP to DCS) But AW's server is usually empty during my TZ when I can get on. I only rarely can find times where I can join in on the fun because the mission rotates around 5pm EST and after that the population evaporates. I like what AW has, the different scenarios, special missions, different maps. Depending on the day/time and rotation you get something different. Me in AW's server learning the mig21: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1186738966 ECW isn't going to try to replicate that experience. We want consistency. You log in, you see where the front is, you go and try to win the war for your team. You log in the next day, see how the map progressed while you slept and you go at it again! We want our players to be involved in the mission over the span of WEEKS not hours. So I feel there's room for both to exist.
  9. The ECW concept we put together has nothing in common with Alpen's server beyond the plane set and era represented. It was inspired by the FVP team in IL-2(and blessed by them as well), and has evolved into it's own UNIQUE entity. The mission statement for the team is that we wanted to build a Dynamic Campaign engine and a PVP environment that was not focused on CTLD and the tropes that are very well established in the community around that (ala Blueflag, DDCS, and the former RSR server, which is where a lot of the staff came from). As such we are focused on our Dynamic Campaign engine, and enhancing that 24/7 server feel. We have 0 intention of doing the types of diverse mission rotation Alpen's server is known for, and as such do not see ourselves as competing with Alpen's server beyond the fact that we sometimes use some of the same planes (You'll see F-15s/16s and 18s appear on AW's server... you won't here... ever). Things that you won't see on ECW: Limiting Lives CTLD/Slinging Changing overall mission types (it will always be a dynamic campaign, we may expand the map borders in the future, but we won't do a mission rotation like alpen) Controlling of vehicles (this will only change, and maybe at that, if we get improvements to the core DCS engine that won't bring frames to their knees) and anything else I didn't mention outside the core tenets listed in the FAQ. This server is the brain child of myself and Enigma... not just him. It's being financed, by us (at a not insignificant loss still, but thank you all the Patreons for helping out!!) And it's being supported by a great team of developers some of which are new and some came from the old RSR project, but all have a passion for what we're doing here. Literally none of what you are saying is a fair characterization of Enigma, or the objective of this server, nor is it warranted. Even Alpen here on this thread has wished us well.
  10. It's kinematically superior to the hornet. The missiles its fires, in theory, can have more energy and be more deadly. It's better at high G, and high speed maneuvering than the hornet (especially if the hornet is going full missile boat), so it's arguably better for defending missiles. The Hornet can carry more missiles, and arguably has better Situational Awareness in it's current state. Also if the Hornet gets to the merge it's extremely scary in BFM. All that being said in a fox3 fight, I'd rather be in a viper than a hornet, but I'd love a hornet to be there to back me up.
  11. Our team as put in countless hours, and poured in many dollars to make this campaign work and host it. And the community response has been fantastic. (barring some obvious malcontents and trolls) For right now our mentality is to cast the widest net possible, and keep the barrier to entry low. We were honestly not expecting the level of population we got consistently throughout the week while we were still in our Beta phase. Once we complete our initiatives for our vs 1.0 features and get completely out of beta, we will look at adding enhancements to the campaign. That may come in the form of adding difficulty (re navigation) or balance changes, new weapons, etc... But right now as we've said on our discord we want to make sure "vanilla tastes good" before we add new flavors. The development team is very active on the discord, so if you guys are interested in adding suggestions or feedback, please don't hesitate to contact us there. Also thanks again for all the help and support from the community, ED, and the rest of the publishers and admins that have helped us make this campaign a reality. Good hunting out there everyone!
