Hello all,

I've recently (I should say finally) picked up a TrackIr rig with the Pro clip. I've watched the setup video from this site and it helped me get started with custom profiles but I'm still having problems with over-controlling my view which makes precision viewing/focus a little difficult.

I've been playing around with the 'speed' and 'smooth' settings in the software and am currently using .8 for speed and 10 for smooth but I think it still needs improvement. For those of you who run TrackIr, what speed and smooth settings do you use and are there any hints/subtleties in the TIR software that I should know about?

Thank you in advance for any advice you can provide.

Good hunting,

I’ve always found that the included “Smooth” preset works perfectly, no need for adjustments. Have you tried that profile? The NaturalPoint software installs with “Default” as the preset and this doesn’t work very well for flight sims where you need a greater range of motion.

Thanks for the reply SharpeXB, I'm now running speed at .7 and smooth at 25 and it seems much better now.

My Trackir5 pro stopped working after a few years, then I saw someone on YouTube introducing a head tracker called Aimxy, so I bought one from Amazon, and it feels very, very good, like a Trackir5 pro without having to wear anything, and it is much better than Opentrack and similar software on the iPhone.

I have a question. I used to fly with FreeTrack for about 5 years. There was an option where, for example, by tilting your head as far back and to the left (Yaw axis), your head would move to the right (X axis). This allowed you to look around the seat simply by looking to the left.

In other words, instead of your eyes rotating 180 degrees inside your head, it was as if your head was physically moving.

Is there a way to configure this for TrackIR?

With TrackIR DCS simulates your neck and shoulder movement like it would be in reality. Your virtual head looks around the headrest instead of an “owl neck” 180. No adjustment to the NaturalPoint software is needed to accomplish this.
