II.JG1_Vonrd Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 I'm doing a skin of Robin Olds' F-4C SCAT XXVII. I can't quite make out all of the text. CAUTION THE CANOPY ???? MUST BE COMPLETELY CLEAR ???? ?????? BEFORE ACCOMPLISHING? THIS OPERATION Anybody know?
Solution Iron Sights Posted June 27, 2024 Solution Posted June 27, 2024 Looks like “the canopy rails must be completely clear open button before attempting this operation” best guess.

Bosun Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 I think it reads, "I can write whatever I want here, it just needs to look a tad different." 1
=475FG= Dawger Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 There was a fatal incident in an Air Force F-4 in Vietnam due to a canopy actuator rod that came loose and fired the seat when the pilot tried to open his canopy after landing. Probably something related to that. A visual inspection from outside the aircraft was required before the crew could open the canopy. I imagine a fix was worked out and this placard disappeared. Its hard figure out what it is supposed to read.
jeffmaysefaith79 Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 I would post on the dcs facebook group for anyone in the Dayton OH area to swing by the museum and get a closeup. I'm about an hour away but may be able to go next weekend if you haven't figured it out. 1 "You should fly a fighter aircraft one inch from out of control at all times in a purposeful way" -Willie Driscoll USN (ret)
