I'm having a problem that seems to be above my pay grade, so I thought I would ask those who have forgot more about pc's than I'll ever know. I recently upgrade my pc to a

ASUS ROG Strix Z790 mb, ASUS Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, Intel i7-13700 CPU, 32 GB DDR5 ram, and a Pimax Crystal light.

The problem I'm having is DCS is crashing back to the desktop when trying to load anything to do with the F14, it starts to load then freezes goes black for 10-15 seconds and crashes, it will load the Mustang it seems without any problem though. I'm running with openxr and the Pimax XR, most of my setting are Medium to high, no Ultra settings. the frame rates with the Mustang are around 70 and even when it starts to load an F14 the framerates aren't tanking, it's like a freeze then crash. FYI, I'm having the same problem in MSFS, but I can run IL-2 flawlessly. I stress tested both the CPU & GPU and they tested fine. I know this is hard to trouble shoot, but any suggestions are worth a try. Thx

can you post your DCS.Log file please? also what is your power supply for the PC make and wattage? what did you stress test the pc with?

What kind of Stresstest did you use to test your CPU?

Did it ever run Cinebench r15.0.3.7 (not 15.0.3.8)? Just in case, you can find it here: https://www.guru3d.com/download/cinebench-15-download/

It should at least be able to run 5-10 consequent runs of r15.03.7. You might think that cinebench isn't a stressfull test, but for whatever reason this is the quickest way to get an idea of stability for Raptor Lake CPUs. Even Buildzoid showed it on his CPU (but he only used 15.0.3.8 via benchmate which is said to be weaker than stand alone 15.0.3.7)

I only fool around the F-14 - and still having a hard time on it as there is so much to learn and so little time and talent. But I love it.

Thankyou for the response Nephillim, I hope this is what you asked for. I have a CORSAIR RMe Series RM1200e ATX Power Supply, I think I miss-spoke, I benchmarked with UserBenchmark. I am going to run the Cinebench R15, right now.

Thank you for the R15 Test. I would say we don't need to worry about the CPU stability then - i wouldn't have asked, but you have a raptor Lake, so i wanted to bei shure

Ok, I'm getting closer! I tried running DCS in 2D with Pimax Play in the background P51 worked and the F14 crashed the app twice. So, I turned off Pimax Play completely and the F14 loaded without any problems. So now what do you think I should do? Thank you all for the help so far, I would have never got this far without it.

no those are crash and dump files the log is just that see above, it is a text document.

I would see if you can either update the Pimax program or revert back to an older one if you recently updated it or verify the files or reinstall it maybe as a last resort..

Hey that is the one, and don't worry alot of users get this wrong.. there were a few things I seen but the 1st is any reason you are not using the MT exe?? and your pagefile is at ZERO, I would if you have the space on your drive.

Also you seem to have a good enough PC, when you installed your GPU did you DDU the old Drivers that is if you just installed that GPU over an older one or is this a new PC all together??

@The_Nephilim is right. I would strongly recommend to set a Pagefile. There are even known issues when the Pagefile is set to "Auto" and can't extend fast enough. But when there isn't a Pagefile at all (like 0), the chances are high that such crashes happen.

It doesn't matter how much physical RAM you have. There are Programs that ask for all of the physical Memory plus even more. In such situations the program crashes. So it isn't a good idea to set a Pagefile to Zero even if it will work most of the time. I would set a fixed Pagefile of 32.768 (32x1024) MB

If that doesn't help, I would consider a full repair of your DCS Installation. I have seen that you use the Steam Version. I don't know if the Steam Repair mechanisms help here. Standalone Users have a Repair Option... But I see some "Error DX11 can't find X". So I would try a repair.

Dang, third or fourth time a charm! No, I loaded the new GPU over my old 3080ti drivers, so should I do a complete driver cleaning then reinstall the latest drivers? I do have the MT exe installed, I guess I just don't have it setup to load into it properly, and I wasn't aware of the page file issue, which I will research and figure out both later this morning. Can't thank you enough for your help with all this!

Thankyou FR4GGL3, I have no idea why the pagefile would be set to zero, I have never messed with it. But I'll darn sure fix it!

yes use Display Driver uninstaller DDU for short.. make sure you go into safe mode. yes set your Pagefile and then try the Multithread .exe located in the Bin-MT folder.. DCS.exe there are 2 bin folders the regualr bin has the single core exe and the mt has the multi threaded one..

Hope this works for you..
