I run DCS: Black Shark in an AMD X2 6000+ (brisbane...), only 2GB DDR2 800 and a modest 3850 with just 256MB.

Runs fine... No suttering, only the normal "middle-range" FPS caused by my 3850. 1280x1024, medium textures (only 256MB in my VGA) medium distance, all planar.

Windows Vista Ultimate x64, affinity set to both cores. In my old 4000+ and WinXP, DCS:Black Shark was unplayable....

One AMD X2 6000+ platform with just 2GB and a modest VGA can handle DCS: Black Shark with acceptable performance.

that's good news. yes BS seems quite modest when it comes to textures so it would have low demands on gpu memory i guess

And I'm using FreeTrack with a low-end webcam...

I really don't understand all the "CPU PIG" thing... Obviously some optimization and update in engine will be good, but I think it's ok by now.

One friend of mine bought BS yesterday... P4 3.0Ghz and ATI 9600... Will see...

It's "CPU Hog", actually. :P

And it's not really a case of optimization (besides what can be gained through multithreading and such) - the CPU Hog nature of it is the fact that the engine has a rediculous amount of work for the CPU to do and will happily gobble up everything even an overclocked i7 makes available. (Well, not really, since cores 3 and 4 aren't really useful, but you get my drift.)

Compare that to IL2 where my computer won't even bother upping the CPU multiplier to it's maximum setting, since there's not enough for the CPU to do to make that worth the heat.

Ops... pig, hog, warthog, razorback... all these animals... my english really sucks! :helpsmilie:

What I'm trying to say using my terrible english is: even in a modest 6000+ like mine, the engine can give me solid +25/30fps almost all the time. IL2 runs as smoth as notepad here

My main computer is down waiting for a new video card, I RMA'd the old Radeon 2900 pro, it went bad. Meanwhile I am using an older family computer.

Asus P4P800 Deluxe MB, P4 3.2 GHZ CPU with Radeon X1950 Pro Video card. The CPU is holding iot back badly... Anyone with a similar setup is hurting badly, even if you did not realize it. I was shocked in the difference in Black Shark with the difference between my computers in Black Shark. BS really puts a computer to test and paces.

I am lucky to get 10 fps and the picture isn't great either....

:joystick:

can't wait for my medium gaming computer is back up and running

55" Sony OLED TV, Oculus VR
