side Doorguns working so far with joysticks and VR... unexpected surprise!!! THANK YOU FOR THIS FEATURE!!!

just tried out the CH47

when to take a peek to see if doorgun functionality exists, and to my surprise, IT DOES!!!

not only that i can play as a doorgunner in VR, but i can use the doorgun with joystick or mouse!!

thank you ED team for this.

cant wait for the M3M .50 cal, and the ramp gunner position in future update..

but the modern M60 is pretty amazingggg!!

if you are using mouse or joystick, make sure you set options in the CH47 special settings menu to set the behavior for doorgun useage.. with what ever you want...  mouse , joystick or aim by face...

i really like how the new M60D fires... it puts the UH1H M60D to shame...

So how did you guys get this to work? I’m using VR and I cannot aim with my mouse in the CH-47. I can choose aim with my face (kinda pointless in VR) or use my joystick in the special settings. The mouse just doesn’t work. Even tried double clicking the middle button which works in other door gun positions.

So far it works with joystick or face aiming... (mouse control had been reported as not working)

Go to settings/ special options for CH47 and choose doorgun by head track or  joystick.

If you use the special option for joystick, you will also have to map your joystick axis under the settings/ controls for the "ch47 gunner" drop down menu and bind to joystick left/right and up/down

Note..it's ideal to use a joystick that does not spring back to center when aiming doorgun with joystick

Ah. The mouse works in 2D as it moves the POV around. In VR your head moves the POV so that's why I'm guessing the mouse isn't working. I wish it just worked like the Huey.

Man ive seen your videos. I have looked at all the stl files, I could easily print everything, however past that I am unbelievably lost in how to make this and I want to setup a door gunner pit next to my flight pit for my second computer and people to coop with me in the same room, would be the most fun multi crew. I havebto find someone to do the labor for me lmao

I believe i shared 3 builds. the simple, the VR and the M2 browning

the VR version and M2 its not an easy build.

the minigun i have not shared, and it is even more harder to build, requiring a drill press to make precision holes in 2 x 4 wood.

what part are you lost at?

ideally u should know how to make a basic joystick to have in idea of how to even build a joystick..

at minimum, you need to have the ability to solder wires and 3d print and patience.

which is the doorgun you are trying to build from the 3 flavors i shared on thingiverse?  i do not know the cost. i did not keep track.

no problem.

i am here. depending on the doorgun build, it will be either cheap or moderately cost.. not super expensive. i dont think it cost me a whole lot.

if you make the no frills doorgun, it cheap. (the bu0386 usb controller is almost 40$ with shipping)

if you make the full size M2 browning doorgun, of course will be more.
