Unable to update dedicated server due to space issue - How to avoid installing all terrains when updating dedicated server?

I am part of a discord community that has serveral dedicated servers running. We are running with dedicated terrain servers so one server is only running Syria, one is only running Kola and one is only running Afghanistan. However, we have issues getting the latest updated into the Afghanistan server as there is simply not enough disk space for the server to update. The server has all terrains installed and I want to uninstall some of them, however if I simply delete them the updater wants to install them again. How can I update a dedicated server WITHOUT having to install all terrains?

You should only have one DCS server installation folder and use different folders in saved games for each instance you want to run

otherwise you will duplicate a lot of data unnecessarily

if you run the dedicated server installer at that point you select which terrains to install (apart from afghanistan as ED have not updated the installer for it - you can do it manually with DCS_updater.exe install AFGHANISTAN_terrain )

 

 

there was defo something messed up with todays patch for dedi server

Yea, we have separate physical servers for each DCS server we are running. So only one installation folder and Saved Gamers folder for each server on each dedicated server and corresponding server hardware. The issue isn't that I'm unable to install any given terrain, but to UNINSTALL a terrain after its been installed once. One of the servers used to run KOLA, but we have changed servers and now the previous KOLA server is supposed to run an Afghanistan mission. However that is not possible as we can't currently update the server at all since the updater forces me to re-install KOLA as part of the update, leaving me with no more room to update the server or install Afghanistan. Im not even able to update because the server harddrive is full as long as the KOLA map is installed. So I am unable to even update the server before I've managed to delete something else, but if I delete any of the terrains that are installed, the updater will just try to install it as part of the next update.

DCS_updater.exe install AFGHANISTAN_terrain

 

No idea why you dont have one server to rule them all
