I started this campaign with maybe 2 hours total in the Huey. The first mission I spent probably 10 hours on and at least 20 tries (kept getting into VRS trying to land heavy) but finally got it. After this it was all downhill. I was getting more comfortable with the aircraft and it felt like I was progressing as a pilot at the same rate as the character progressed as a pilot which was a really cool experience. I went from being constantly lost at the beginning to being able to fly between most common points without even looking at the compass (which came in handy after being shot to hell on multiple occasions). If you're worried about starting this campaign because you're bad at the Huey, do it anyways. Getting better at flying over the course of the campaign really adds a lot to it.

The mission design was fantastic. It strikes the perfect balance between realistic and action-packed. Not too over the top (aside from one mission but I'll let you figure that out) but still fun. Resistance from the enemy is a great balance too. You get shot at plenty enough to be exciting but not enough to get killed over and over again. I limped home with no radios, nav equipment, or even basic gauges like the airspeed and heading indicators on more than one occasion but never got shot down. The missions were fun but not super complicated. A lot of the briefings were just a sentence or two. You load the mission without even knowing what you're getting into as I imagine was the case a lot of the time in Vietnam. The story was great, the end cutscene even got me choked up a little.

One of the best parts about this campaign was everything worked. I didn't have to constantly worry about activating triggers and doing things the intended way. Quite a few times I flew way off course or lost my flight lead or whatever and never broke a mission. I had one problem with a trigger but out of 3 tries it only happened once. It's the most stable dcs campaign I've played by a long shot. A lot of the others aren't even playable.

This is definitely my favorite flight sim experience and one of my favorite gaming experiences in general. If you're thinking about it, definitely buy it. As of 5 days ago, there are next to no bugs.

Great job with this one Reflected. Now you just need to make an A10 or F18 campaign!

Hey thanks for stopping by and sharing your feedback. I'm so glad you enjoyed the campaign and it all worked smoothly. I tried to capture the experience that I read about in so many Vietnam memoirs.

Unfortunately I have no idea how to fly the Hornet or the A-10 😞
