VictorDavion Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 Assuming the RAZBAM situation is ever resolved, would love to see the final French M2000C S5 (not to be confused with the 2000-5) where they added the Thales Totem INS/GPS and link 16, improved RDI and countermeasures, and better engine. Unlikely, but one can hope.
myHelljumper Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Do you have any sources where I could read on these improvements ? To my knowledge: GPS was never integrated in the 2000C and the INS system represented in the module is the one that was used until the aircraft retirement. The RDI represented in the module is the latest version with NCTR. The M53-P2 represented on the module is the most powerful engine installed on a Mirage 2000 to date. AFAIK the module represents the most advanced 2000C as used in the French Air Force. The screenshot you provided must be an export aircraft cockpit. 3 Helljumper - M2000C Guru Helljumper's Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK3rTjezLUxPbWHvJJ3W2fA
Galinette Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 It shouldn't have a RDI radar, then. Improved RDM? The VTB was also replaced by a US LCD display.
VictorDavion Posted October 6, 2024 Author Posted October 6, 2024 According to some exchange pilots I trained at our FTU, the last french M2000C's replaced the VTB for US LCD displays but retained the same functionality. As far as GPS they used ipads with a GSP/ADS-B in antenna in the cockpit. Only the -5's, D, and mk2 got integrated gps. 2
Galinette Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 (edited) No, the french Mirages 2000C still had the CRT display until retirement and the 2000B still have it (100% sure) To be confirmed, but, I think -5 has only a modernized PCN and the same INS. D had (before RMV at least) a dual redundant INS but no GPS as well. Edited October 7, 2024 by Galinette 1
