BigBorner Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 We have Litening und ATFLIR in DCS, but were not cool enough for Sniper. 1
Dr_Pavelheer Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 In DCS? Mainly zoom levels, UI and 3D model, maybe functionality like NVG visible laser pointer. F15E (RIP) and F14 apply some filters to convey worse image quality in older pods, I doubt anything in DCS goes as deep as imperfections in optical tracking reliability and gimbal precision. JF-17 is unique because its targeting pod "refocuses" as you zoom in and out and it has a limit to how far away you can be for area track 3
jeventy26 Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Range and Precision: The Sniper pod has the longest range and highest precision of the three, particularly suited for beyond visual range (BVR) operations. Platform-Specific Design: The ATFLIR is specifically optimized for the F/A-18 series and maritime environments, while the Litening and Sniper pods are used on a broader range of platforms. Upgradability: The Litening pod is modular, allowing for easier updates, while the Sniper pod is considered to have superior performance for long-range precision. Field of Use: The ATFLIR is primarily used by the U.S. Navy, while the Litening and Sniper pods are used across multiple branches of the military and internationally. 3
