Wavehopper Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 (edited) Hey folks. I recently picked up an OLED Display (34" Alienware AW3423DWF) and I'm having trouble getting DCS to look decent at night. I get a very posterized effect that I'm having no joy toning down, bar turning down the in-game Gamma. HDR only seems to brighten the problem, it doesn't remove it by turning off HDR. Am I doing something stupid (most likely), and does anyone have any advice? It just looks fairly awful. Edited October 7, 2024 by Wavehopper https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCC9G7AVfi68SovXCTCH-7fA
SharpeXB Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 (edited) DCS does not support HDR so if the monitor has this mode it should be off. I have an OLED screen and there’s no difference to using this compared to any other screen technology. Check the video settings in your graphics card control panel and set them to default. Check to see if the new monitor has some sort of picture mode enabled like “Game” or “Vivid” etc. Edited October 7, 2024 by SharpeXB 1 i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
Wavehopper Posted October 7, 2024 Author Posted October 7, 2024 Thanks Sharpe. I'll tinker with it without HDR, so that's saved me a huge amount of hassle. Appreciate the info. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCC9G7AVfi68SovXCTCH-7fA
