I suggest: either replace the current AP tape with a mixed one, or add a selection of tapes. High-explosive fragmentation shells, armor-piercing and without tracers. A-10 GAU-8 fires much more powerfull AP cardridge 30x173 with 425 gram 1010m/s muzzle velocity when Su-25 GSh-30-2 uses far more moderate 30x165 with 390 gram 870m/s muzzle velocity. 1

Now let`s try to calculate energy difference between 2 bullets: E=(mv^2)/2 or (0.425*1010^2)/2 for GAU-8 and (390*980^2)/2 for GSh 30 (0.425*1010^2)/2=216 771 ; (390*980^2)/2=187 278 187 278/216 771=0.86 or 86% GAU-8 max range=5km, so GSh 30 max range must be 5*0.86=4.3km. Now we not have this range in DCS.

Now we not have this range in DCS. You've used wrong velocity for the GSh-30-2, probably just a mistake, it should be 870m/s. GSh-30-2 has 68% energy of GAU-8. Edited October 21, 2024 by bies
