I had a weird thing happen to me once, a couple years back. Woke up because there was an awful racket going on and stepped out on the balcony (lived downtown back then). There my eyes are greeted by two P-51s in a mock dogfight.

To say the least, I was slightly confused, until I remembered that that was the day when the airshow was visiting town. :P

I live a few miles from North Weald and am lucky enough to see all kinds of vintage aircraft flying around in the Summer. My grandfather was in the Royal Air Force during the war, stationed in Iceland to help protect the supply convoys to Murmansk, Russia. My other grandfather was a tank driver in North Africa, Sicily, then Italy. He lost 3 tanks - 2 to mines, 1 to an 88.

What I have seen in my life,I mean not in exhibitions ( don't ask when and where :music_whistling:):

- Mi-24 MKIII's in real anti-terrorist action (rockets/cannon)

- An IL-78 feeding2 SU-24Mk2 at the same time

- Mig-29 and Mig-25RBsh take-off's and landings

- B1-b landing (wow... :pilotfly:)

The Mi-24 gun sound is scary, and I will never forget the Mig-25 engines "rocket" noise...
