dragos_cscc Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 AMD Phenom II x4 940 3.0GHz V3.0.642.0 ASUS M4A79 Deluxe BIOS 1402 04/23/2009 790FX/SB750 GeIL Evo One 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 @ 800 ASUS EAH4870 DK/HTDI/1GD5 Radeon HD 4870 CCC version 9.3 CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V Western Digital Caviar Black WD5001AALS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb Vista X64 SP1 Running Lock On 1.12, no other mods or anything. Whenever the sky is set to overcast I get this low level of detail on far away ground textures. With clear skies everything is fine. Tried adjusting the visibility range, textures and scenes in options with no success. Another quick question. I get decent frames on Lock On 1.12. Should I expect the same with Black Shark. I'm a little hesitant on getting it because of this. Thanks Dragos

CHola Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 What's your L01 and L12 setting for the LandDay and LandNight entry, in graphics.cfg file? Cheers, Cola Cheers, CHola
dragos_cscc Posted June 11, 2009 Author Posted June 11, 2009 Hey Cola LandLodDistances { LandDay { L01 = 10000; L12 = 40000; } LandNight { L01 = 8000; L12 = 15000; } Map { L01 = 50000; L12 = 120000; L23 = 200000; L34 = 300000; L45 = 400000; } MapAlt { L01 = 50000; L12 = 120000; L23 = 200000; L34 = 300000; L45 = 400000; } MapTex { L01 = 50000; L12 = 120000; L23 = 200000; L34 = 300000; L45 = 400000; } MFD { L01 = 10000; L12 = 25000; } } Dragos
dragos_cscc Posted June 11, 2009 Author Posted June 11, 2009 Tried this setup, no change. Will mess with it later unless somebody knows a specific thing to change in there. LandLodDistances { LandDay { L01 = 10000; L12 = 40000; } LandNight { L01 = 10000; L12 = 40000; Dragos
CHola Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Hm, looks good... HOWEVER, if you have modman/loman, keep in mind that every time you start LockOn via LOMAN/MODMAN launcher, the game uses a graphics.cfg that is stored in profiles/graphich folder in MODMAN/LOMAN directory!, without overwriting original file... Do you have any custom overcast mods installed? Cheers, Cola Cheers, CHola
dragos_cscc Posted June 11, 2009 Author Posted June 11, 2009 No mods installed. I'll search for a different config file under user profiles maybe. Any other ideas or suggestions to try out? Dragos
CHola Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Any other ideas or suggestions to try out? Not sure. But either way, you get far-LOD ground clipping. Try launching the game through MODMAN/LOMAN with increased clipping distances in advanced graphics options menu. Try installing some high-FPS overcast mod. Let me know if that works and if not what happens... Cheers, Cola Cheers, CHola
dragos_cscc Posted June 11, 2009 Author Posted June 11, 2009 Hey CHola Found another graphics.cgf file in a backup folder, tried messing with the settings in both for night and day settings. No changes what so ever.
CHola Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 ...try this config and let me know what happens... Cheers, ColaConfig.zip Cheers, CHola
Kuky Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Better use these values in Graphics.cfg: LandLodDistances { LandDay { L01 = 30000; L12 = 40000; } LandNight { L01 = 30000; L12 = 40000; } PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
dragos_cscc Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 CHola tried both your cgf files and no changes. Kuly same with your values. Do I have to click "Apply changes" somewhere or is there another .cgf file under user profiles?? No matter what I do to that graphics file I see no changes in the game. After I change it, I save the file, (went back a couple of times and double checked that my values were changed after saving it) and then restart the game. Tried re booting the CPU a few times, still nothing. Dragos
Kuky Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Do you use Anisotropic Filtering (AF) in graphics drivers? If not se that to 8x or 16x if your video card can handle it. Other than that if even with LOD values for terrain textures set to 3000/4000m your terrain looks crappy don't know what could be causing it. With AF and those values my ground textures look very nice and sharp. One other thing you could try is use these values (in Graphics.cfg again): OldLandNoise { perSquare = 5; perSquare2 = 150; front = 1000; back = 10000; top = 5000; map_high = 20000; bottom = 1000; noisemax = 0.6; noisemin = 0.1; } PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
CHola Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 (edited) Now I vaguely remember something about the fog...hm...try light/heavy fog and overcast. IIRC, game automatically kicks in far-LOD, when the visibility is reduced by either fog or low level overcast, no matter whether it's day or night...BUT I'm not sure. Try pushing the visibility range to full 80km, as well. Anyway, can't harm to try. Cheers, Cola Edited June 12, 2009 by CHola Cheers, CHola
