Hi everyone

I only have one pci-e slot in my computer, but I want more monitors..

I found out you can buy quite cheap ati hd2400 (and nvidia fx5200 for example) for normal pci. So, my question is if that will affect the performance alot.

For example, if i only run the abris and shkval on the monitor connected to the pci card and the normal camera to my pci-e card, would there be a noticable fps drop? (on the normal camera)

Anyone have any experience with that sort of setup?

Oh, and one more thing, my pci-e card is an ati, it is important that the pci card is ati as well? I guess google could answer that question though...

Thanks in advance

/Martin

You might want to spend some time checking out the SoftTH forums:

http://www.kegetys.net/forum/index.php?board=1.0

There is a lot of knowledge archived over there on the subject.

Another approach is an external hardware solution... Matrox Dual Head 2 Go and Triple Head 2 Go. One video cable out of your computer to the box, with it outputting to two, or three monitors respectively. This approach is intended for monitors of the same size/resolution.

Good luck!

There's no place like 127.0.0.1

of all the 'free' configs I have tested, SoftTH gave the best fps performance. Smooth framrates are very important to me and along with the loss of MP flying and fps cuts, multi-monitor is a no-go for me (at this time - and this is with a ball-buster system). Good luck to you.

looks like using normal pci is a no-go then... The matrox solutions are too expensive for me, but maybe i can find some cheap used.

Thanks!
