Bahger Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 As some of you might have noticed, I could not get the wingman, tower or Betty voice files or tutorial voiceover to work in BS. I jumped through so many useless hoops -- downloading codecs, reinstalling the game, updating sound drivers -- before almost giving up that I do not want anyone else to suffer unneccessarily so here's the solution: If you are running Vista and not getting the above sound tracks in BS, it's because your soundcard speaker settings are where most peoples' are with good systems: 5.1 or thereabouts. Roll those settings back to "stereo" if you want full voiceover functionality in BS and save yourself the hassle of what I went through. 1

Maybe, but they work fine in eveything else. It's an acknowledged problem, see post #5 here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=40180 It'll be interesting to know how rare the issue is.
enigmatics Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Might want to post your motherboard and audio card info. I use the IDT chip that is onboard an Intel DG33TL with Vista Ultimate 64x and 5.1 audio works fine.

Thanks, Bivol, what would flight simming be without challenges like this, huh? It used to be much worse but even now, the tiniest little incompatibility can drive you crazy.
JG14_Smil Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 in hindsight, I had this exact problem back in January. I did the stereo fix thing, but later fixed it by getting the 5.1 speaker plugs in correctly. it works when set to 5.1 after doing so.

What exactly was wrong with your speaker connections? 5.1 works fine for me in other apps, and the 5.1 audio test in my PC's sound options menu identifies all channels as working.
