flameoutme Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Hi Everyone. I'm experienced in single player DCS F-4e and my friend is getting the F-4e very soon. Several years ago I tried to set up something that would allow me and my friend to connect (just us along with AI planes from a mission I make). When I tried to do it several years ago it involved opening router ports which honestly became too much so we gave up. Can you point me to a really good article or video that shows how to (easily) fly missions on the same map together. Is there a service I could use for this? All recommendations appreciated! rick

All recommendations appreciated! rick Options typically include:1) Fly on a server hosted by someone else who went through the network setup2) Host it yourselfFor 2) to work you need to open the corresponding ports (often called portforwarding). There are a lot of guides for this, as this is a non-specific and very widespread thing. But the exact process is different per router. It is usually a setting somewhere in your router configuration. But in some cases, depending on the exact ISP contract you have, it might not be available at all.An alternative approach to opening ports is to mimic creating a local network with you and your friend (LAN). I.e. as if you are living in the same house. There are apps for this, for example Hamachi. It is definitely something non-DCS (and non-Phantom) specific 1

If you're willing to have other players in your game (but on your team!), I can highly recommend the Flashpoint Levant and Grayflag servers. Technically speaking you can get a dedicated server from providers like Fox3MS, but I don't think that's very reasonable for what you're getting up to, with their lowest price point being $43/month. There's plenty of guides on how to port forward, and you should just need to open up port 10308! 1
