IrishStarJumper Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Hello guys So been using a Pico 4 for the last 2ish years... Really enjoyed it, with it being my first step into VR flight sim, but finding it very hard to get a clean sharp image, maybe its my PC hardware + screen-door effect of the Pico 4. You can see the PC specs in my signature, Is there anything glaring that's worth updating first before I go looking at GPU's and new headset's Regards PC : MSI B650 TOMAHAWK | AMD Ryzen 5 7600X | DeepCool AS500 Plus | MSI RX6800 | Kingston Fury 32Gb DDR5-5600 | Corsair Mp600 2 x 1TB | PICO4

It should give you a big performance boost. 1 9800x3d: rtx5070ti: 64Gb RAM 6000MHz: 2Tb NVME: Quest Pro (previous rift s and Pico 4).
IrishStarJumper Posted January 2 Author Posted January 2 Is this not a eye tracking thing? Pico 4 has no eye tracking PC : MSI B650 TOMAHAWK | AMD Ryzen 5 7600X | DeepCool AS500 Plus | MSI RX6800 | Kingston Fury 32Gb DDR5-5600 | Corsair Mp600 2 x 1TB | PICO4
diego999 Posted January 2 Posted January 2 It can be used in fixed mode. If your CPU can take it, it's a great tool to gain performance. 1

Pico 4 has no eye tracking I have used it with my Pico 4 in fixed mode and it works very well. Give it a try. You can push the central resolution up quite high and also get a decent performance boost. 1 9800x3d: rtx5070ti: 64Gb RAM 6000MHz: 2Tb NVME: Quest Pro (previous rift s and Pico 4).
IrishStarJumper Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 Awh super...... sorry didnt realise it could be used like that ..... Give it ago later... In terms of other improvements before GPU's etc.... with having 32Gb DDR5-5600 it is worth putting in another two sticks giving me 64Gb? just seeing what else i could do with out spending a packet.... ( just yet ) PC : MSI B650 TOMAHAWK | AMD Ryzen 5 7600X | DeepCool AS500 Plus | MSI RX6800 | Kingston Fury 32Gb DDR5-5600 | Corsair Mp600 2 x 1TB | PICO4

( just yet ) I would recommend 2x32 sticks if you’re going to 64gb. Having 4 sticks can reduce the speed of the RAM due to the number of additional channels, can cause issues for OC profiles and memory timing issues. In the interim I’d recommend a 32gb custom page file if you don’t have one already. Single custom page file with Initial and Max values of 32768 on your fastest SSD (remove any other system managed page files). Click set, apply, and restart your PC. I had x4 16GB at 6400, went to x2 32GB at 6400, no discernible difference but at least the Benchmark thing doesn't slate me for not having XMP enabled. Lol. NB: My x4 sticks were rated at 7200, so I could only BOOST, not XMP. For some reason the Benchmark then didn't see them as "Dual Channel" (or even Quad Channel) for some reason. All very confusing. Having learned that lesson I made sure the x2 32GB were rated at 6400, which is generally considered to be the fastest the best motherboard chipsets can commonly handle (without getting into voltage manipulations and similar malarkey). But watch a few expert videos and discover RAM speeds and timings don't really make much difference anyway (within reason). Edited January 3 by Panzerlang 1
Habu_69 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 64 GB ram is big assist for VR. I am agnostic regarding CPU's, but AMD x3d CPU's best for gaming atm. Regarding HMD's MeganeX 8K seems worth considering, if you have the budget (1800 USD for HMD only). Word up, tho, pre-orders are non-refundable. 1
Ahdidaas Posted January 6 Posted January 6 FWIW I went from 32 to 64 GB ram and got better results. 1
