Talis Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Hi, I have a graphics problem. It is hard to explain what I see when I try to play Blackshark on Windows Vista - screenshots attached. On Windows XP, when I land, ground and everything on it become invisible and I see water instead of them - but the cockpit is still visible. Things become visible when I look up so the center of the screen goes above the horizon. I had same problems in LockOn. Plus, on Windows Xp menus are working very slow - I have to wait about 5 seconds to see a reaction. Panzertard Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Normally I would suspect a graphics driver - or a mod to cause this. Or manually editing some of the setting files to try increase the fps? So maybe you can have a look at some of those things? Latest drivers? Unedit / remove any mods? And regarding the Mobile chipset - is it within the minimum requirements for BS? Talis Posted July 2, 2009 Author Posted July 2, 2009 I have the latest version of the graphics driver, no mods installed. Probably shadows are causing such problems, I saw similiar things in some other games with shadows enabled. Is there a way to disable them? No, unfortunately the Mobile Intel chipset is not in system requirements: "ATI or nVidia 256Mb". Thank you.
Panzertard Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Hm well - this post http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=603352&postcount=50 states that a "Graphics card: 256 MB DirectX 9 compatible" should be okai - says nothing about ATI or Nvidia only. (Recomended says that). And Intel about the Express Chipset: How much graphics memory does my computer have? You know what would be nice - just to have a report form your DXDiag. Start "Dxdiag" from you Run command - there's a "save report" function there. Attach it here - that way if someone with better knowledge of the minimum requirements may be able to tell us if you are stuck with this problem. Other than that - tweaking your graphic setting may be the only option to get rid of it. Again, tweaking the "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Config\graphics.cfg" may cause even more problems - so make sure you make a backup of the file before we start. I dont know the options and settings there too well - but why not just try to disable all shadows as you said. I've spotted two settings indicating it can change shadows and it's behaviour: ShadowLevel = 1; Set it to 0 This one is a bit more questionable, but try it anyway: ShadowDensity = 0.6; Set it to 0 as well, like ShadowDensity = 0; Regarding the water and that it shows up above the landmass - I dont have any suggestions. But maybe, just maybe, disabling the "faulty" shadows may help and it fixes that problem too. The mind is like a parachute. EtherealN Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 I might be being retarded, but isn't the 965 a motherboard chipset as opposed to a graphics circuit? What I see on it's factcheet ( http://www.intel.com/Assets/PDF/datasheet/316273.pdf ) indicates this and lists the x3100 as it's integrated graphics cirquit. I have however found a lot of threads on the intel forums complaining about lacking shader support in the x3100 cirquit. http://mysearch.intel.com/corporate/default.aspx?culture=en_US&q=x3100&category=all&adv=0&value=0&searchsubmit.x=0&searchsubmit.y=0 OP - if you could confirm the actual video card or cirquit in your computer? Is it correct that you are using a laptop running a Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset motherboard and that the GPU onboard is the Intel GMA x3100? Talis Posted July 3, 2009 Author Posted July 3, 2009 I'm using Dell Inpiron 1525. However, in my Resource CD Drivers section, there is an "Intel Mobile Chipset Driver" in "Chipset Drivers" section and an "Intel G965 Express Chipset Family" in "Video Drivers" section - there is nothing said about GMA x3100. Following a guide from intel.com, I've found out:Minimum Graphics Memory: 8 MB Maximum Graphics Memory: 358 MB Disabling the shadows didn't fix the problem. Looks like, as EtherealN says, it is a lacking shader support. Probably in other games, where I had shadows problem, disabling shadows caused some unstable shaders to disable too. OR the problem could be in "AGP status" that is somehow disabled and unavailable in Windows XP and enabled in Windows Vista - causing textures to warp incorrectly and/or polygons vertexes to be in an incorrect position. Unfortunately, I can't find the usual "disable" buttons that group of settings in DxDiag - seems like they have removed them in DirectX 10. Too bad. DxDiag report: DxDiag.txt Thank you anyway.
Panzertard Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 No doubt it's the Graphics chipset, yes - and it's using shared memory (taken from your standard Mem). I think you're out on thin ice unfortunately using that graphics. --------------- Display Devices --------------- Card name: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family Manufacturer: Intel Corporation Chip type: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family DAC type: Internal Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A02&SUBSYS_022F1028&REV_0C Display Memory: 358 MB Dedicated Memory: 0 MB Shared Memory: 358 MB Im sorry - I have no more ideas for you. Talis Posted July 4, 2009 Author Posted July 4, 2009 Well, thin ice becomes thicker with time, so I guess there will be better drivers later - Intel never was that bad in compatibilty. After all, in Windows XP with XP drivers everything is fine (comparing to this). Thank you anyway. Bye

159th_Viper Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Hi, I have a graphics problem. Video: Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family You need a Dedicated Graphics Card. Anything less will not suffice and lead to the anomolies you are experiencing. I have the same exact problem. Did anybody discover a solution? Intel 965 on board GPU See above: A Dedicated Graphics card (ATI 4850/nVidia GF8800) is needed. On-Board GPU will unfortunately not hack it. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? dptdawg Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 I understand and agree. However, DCS does not state this as part of the minimum requirements to run the sim. It is in recommended specs. So, my complaint is one of false, or bad, advertising. I know there is nothing that can be done about it now; I'm just a little frustrated.
