aceofspades9963 Posted January 18 Posted January 18 As the title suggests, objects are either disappearing or appearing as low quality at varying distances. Not all models are affected in the same way. For example, the AIM-9X will display as low quality until I zoom in, when loaded on my wingtip, but the AIM-9M remains normal. I can see player aircraft from a distance, but they appear as low quality until I get closer, at which point the detail switches. I can’t see the carrier when I turn into the grove making landing difficult as I have to use the wake to line up, and the Apache looks like just three dots when it's 200 feet away. This doesn't happen in the TGP's of any aircraft. just looking outside. Most TGT's will appear as Sea containers until you are way too close to them. I searched the forums here and couldn't find anything similar, someone suggested using Multithreading for a spotting issue but I'm using MT. This is in VR but it also happens on the pancake screen. Maybe I missed something I've been out of the loop on DCS for a while but trying to get back into it. Any insight would be appreciated. I’ve tried the following to fix the issue, but nothing seems to work: Repairing DCS Deleting the MetaShaders and FXO folders Reinstalling DCS Changing settings My friend on similar hardware is not having any issues. My specs are I7 11700k 32bg ddr4 3200mhz DCS on its own 1tb Nvme RTX4080 Quest 3 win10
Solution MoleUK Posted January 18 Solution Posted January 18 (edited) Change your LOD switch from 0.1 to 1.0 Having it set to anything less than 1.0 will result in lower detail models appearing at short distances. And in some instances will make objects entirely disappear when they shouldn't, either due to missing LOD models or due to transitioning to a spotting dot when no more spotting dots are available. aceofspades9963 Posted January 18 Author Posted January 18 This is exactly why I love this board! I'm going to give it a try right now. It's funny because I was just going through my settings again and found myself staring at the External FOV, wondering if that could be the cause, then seen LOD right below it. I was about to look up what that stands for. It's a new setting since the last time I played wasn't sure what it was for. 1
MoleUK Posted January 18 Posted January 18 (edited) Oh, and be aware you have to restart the game after changing the LOD for the change to take effect. 1 minute ago, aceofspades9963 said: This is exactly why I love this board! I would essentially treat the LOD switch as broken when set to below 1.0 atm, 0.1 is an extreme example but even at 0.5 stuff can start straight up disappearing. Edited January 18 by MoleUK 3
