Tabasc0 Posted February 6 Posted February 6 (edited) Hello people. I have a quite bad experience in VR with DCS. (On a screen, it runs smooth on high/ultra settings). My specs: Ryzen 5700X3D, DCS on a M2 disk, 3070 rtx, 64 Gb ram. I use oculus tray tool, debug tool, .... But i think my config is simply too short. I think this can be due to 8Gb VRAM. Do u think it can be useful to switch to a Radeon 7800XT for example ? Looking for that one, quite cheap. Edited February 6 by Tabasc0
LOW_Hitman Posted February 7 Posted February 7 VRAM matters in DCS-VR. I switched from a 3070ti to a 4070ti super - so from 8gb to 16gb ram and the impact was huge. i9-9900K / Bios Profile XMP2 / Rog Strix Z-390F Gaming / ASUS TUF Geforce RTX 4070Ti Super / 32GB HyperX Fury 2666 / Saitek X52 HOTAS / Pico 4
S D Posted February 7 Posted February 7 (edited) Are you using Meta link? If so, it is known to struggle with lower VRAM. I would recommend trying Virtual Desktop, although you do require a Wifi6 compatible router and ethernet cable to your PC, its a cheaper option. I can confirm it was a game changer for me and others have reported the same thing, mainly due to the codecs and streamlined software approach instead of the notoriously bad Meta software. Also has the additional bonus of only having increased gains if you do upgrade hardware in the future. I've recently upgraded and am able to push the resolution high enough through VD and headset, that i no longer require any form of anti aliasing. You wouldn't think it makes sense you can get better performance through streaming than a wired connection, but it really is the case, especially if dealing with low VRAM. Edited February 7 by S D
ETBSmorgan Posted February 8 Posted February 8 3070 ti, quest 3 for me. I use virtual desktop. Put cockpit texture on low and try dlss 4: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1i82rp6/dlss_4_dlls_from_cyberpunk_patch_221/?utm_source=embedv2&utm_medium=post_embed&utm_content=post_body&embed_host_url=https://s9e.github.io/iframe/reddit.min.html
Tabasc0 Posted February 9 Author Posted February 9 Thanks for your answers. I've bought Virtual Desktop, but (after a short try on DCS) it is stuttering. Looking now for some advice, setting up Virtual Desktop.

Zebra1-1 Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Definitely VRAM. For VR, 16GB is minimum IMO. If you are looking at 7800 XT, I would wait until the 9070 XT pricing is announced (supposedly) next month. You could also see if you can find a good used RTX 3090, 4080 Super, or 9700 XTX. VR should get a reasonable performance bump once Vulkan and DLSS4 (at least for Nvidia users) is released. 1
