I like the pilot logbook in SP with rank, medals and sorties etc and that pilot can be deceased.

I think something similar should be available on multiplayer servers. If pilot dies then he is reset. However if he is bailed out and makes it back to a blue base alive they don't need to respawn and lose their accomplishments.

I agree. And I tried to come up with some simple requirements for that so that I can put it into a server script. That is where I'm currently blocked:

Do you get one or more pilot(s) per server? If yes, where is it stored? Who owns it? (remember that if the serving machine is located in the EU and the player profile is stored there, the server owner can be liable to GDPR hits from malignant litigants). What if a server owner decides to "kill" your pilot out of spite?

Does your profile move with you from server to server? How do you then prevent cheating?

I made no progress on these basic questions, and yes, let's hope that these questions do get resolved

  • You have multiple plyers per server.
  • I think the record should be held on per server as every server is different.
  • In regards to GDPR I'm in Europe but play on an American server. To get around that maybe there is a limit of how long that data is stored before it resets anyway. I would be essentially a bit like when you hit the ';' key in Multiplayer, but a lot better UI and able to see awards etc. The old way resets with the server which this one would stay a bit longer. The player can choose if they like to reset themselves as well would be good.
  • If server host likes to kill the pilot out of spite, might to time to look for a new server.

    Thoughts?
