Hi friends: Why there is not any DCS WWII server with real time stats as few years ago?.

i remember, that a few years ago, there was a server named Burning Skies, in DCS, with awesome real time stats. Now none exist.

By the way, a few days ago after shootdown a enemy fighter, in server Overlord, i noticed that, there are not record or stat in pilots list on-line, about air-kills or ground-kills of any players in game. Is this feature erased from game??

Any help will be apreciated.

My guess is that it's less used now as a result of the type of gameplay that it can inadvertently encourage:

  • Focus on stats and "winning"
  • Drive towards flying the "best plane"
  • Creation of a very non-historic scenario to achieve a semblance of balance
  • Discourages the more historically focused pilot from the server

I'm referring to complete automatic stats such we've in iL2 simulator saga, from 20 years ago,  and similar we used to have  in DCS servers, Burning skies, or Storm of war, etc

I think stats are a incentive for participating more pilots and squads, because we could know who is our opponents, and how hard anybody fight.

I understand what you mean by stats.  I'm simply stating that there are some like yourself who want the stats, and some like myself who believe that they're counter productive.

We're both right, and there's room for both servers with and without stats to cater for each player type.  Personally I'm not a fan and would now avoid a server that focuses on it's stats, but I understand why for others that might be the incentive.

It is not a real-time stats, it is a simply edited stats copy-pasted manually from mission log.

Wrong. The Project Overlord stats are automatically updated from the custom-built 4YA stats system every hour. As the ingame message displayed to you every time you connect to the server says, if you type $stats into the DCS in-game chat you can track your score in real time.

We have disabled the in-game stats display on Project Overlord for two reasons:

1. It was frequently wrong. DCS' internal events system is buggy. Kills are not registered correctly, or sometimes at all. The same goes for bailouts and crashes. Our stats system tries to address that by interpolating outcomes from linked events. So, if you disconnect within 15 mins of taking a hit and without having landed, we record a death against you and a kill for the player who fired the last shot that hit you, because in those circumstances you have likely disconnected in mid air to try and evade a death stat.

2. The in-game stats display encouraged mobbing of successful players. We didn't want that on our milsim server.

The in-game stats display is enabled on our WW2 PVE training server, which also has a dedicated PVP area.

Please ask me if you have any further questions about how player statistics work on the 4YA WW2 servers.

that was what i was afraid, because, we have not detailed automatic stats, with number of bullets hits, and name of the oponents in the fight, etc, like we have in iL2-GB servers.

DCS collects and records all that. On 4YA Project Overlord we just choose not to display it. Other server operators probably differ.
