PLUTON Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I flew on the Normandy 2 map today and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the diesel locomotives had been replaced by steam locomotives, it made me happy but my question is, in which patch was this added? Because I didn't read it in the updates? 1
waterman Posted February 23 Posted February 23 (edited) The Class 86 Steam Locomotive is included in the World War ll Assets Pack. Theres another steam locomotive and red coaches in this picture that has not been included in Normandy 2 any one know what happend to it ? Edited February 24 by waterman

So if I understand what you mean it is that you need the WWII asset pack. to be able to see the steam locomotives on the Normandy 2 map? and that is because they don't have the WWII asset pack. do they still have the diesel locomotives?
waterman Posted February 24 Posted February 24 (edited) So anyone know what happened to the loco and coaches in the picture ? ------- " Watermann said: The class 86 steam locomotive is included in the WWII asset pack. " ------- That last line was encrypted and i could not understand it ? - With the WWII asset pack you will be able place and use the steam locomotives on routes on the Normandy 2 map. Also the steam loco might be included free in the Normandy 2 traffic you can switch on or off in settings . Another thing is the date you set for a mission may decide if steam or Diesel or electric is used. Edited February 24 by waterman
Holbeach Posted February 24 Posted February 24 The loco in the picture is an American USATC S160, for use after invasion in Europe, not German Class 86. The coaches are LMS stock, used in Britain. I don't know where they came from. .. 1 ASUS 2600K 3.8. P8Z68-V. ASUS ROG Strix RTX 2080Ti, RAM 16gb Corsair. M2 NVME 2gb. 2 SSD. 3 HDD. 1 kW ps. X-52. Saitek pedals. ..

Why i asked was because they were shown in that picture here in October 2022 in a thread previewing Normandy 2 Map and its contents. Would be nice to have them added in an update along with making the 3 WWll assets pack Armoured Flak Wagons we paid for years ago usable ? I do use the 3 Hidden Flak wagons with my locomotives as in the picture. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/310823-dcs-normandy-20-preview Edited February 24 by waterman
waterman Posted February 25 Posted February 25 (edited) Nice bit of progress - Theres a very nice Free Download "Low Polygon" USATC S160 by Steve Emfore on Sketchfab - "USATC S160 2-8-0 Steam Locomotive" He also has nine other nice free 3D Locomotives. It was created for the game Transport Fever 2. Should look very good with animated valve gear in DCS with some photo textures from a real loco. I will see what i can do so check back soon ! Looks pretty weird Hi no its not normal but thats what DCS trains do. I am Preparing a series of test missions to highlight the problems with trains as i do every year hoping the problems gets fixed. The Problem is Reported and i Hope it gets fixed and an update issued soon thanks. At present do not use late Activation or Deactivation for trains both are faulty . Late Activation will ignore any advanced waypoints you set and will not be invisable before Activation. Deactivation will result in train leaving tracks splitting up and continue on to Mars no one has lived long enough to find out if this is true or not ! SO DO THIS - " This is the Only realistic reliable way i have created to use a DCS train at present " If anyone has proceedures they use for trains please share your ideas 1. When you place train on track add wagons set advanced waypoint action for that waypoint to hold and tick DUR checkbox and set as many seconds you want to keep train stationary. 2. At next waypoint maybe at a station set advanced waypoint action for that waypoint to hold and tick DUR checkbox and set as many seconds you want to keep train waiting there. ( Repeat this step for all stations or stops needed. 3. At last waypoint set advanced waypoint action for that waypoint to hold do not tick DUR checkbox or set any seconds and the train will remain there for ever. If you dont do this last hold step train will go backwards and continue for ever in DCS bonkers backwards forwards mode. Please take a minute to study and try out my attached mission file it uses all default DCS stuff no mods. Note you can ctrl c the train and ctrl v the train to create more with same setup waypoints just change the initial hold time for each. Now what you have been waiting for - the exciting mission - you are the vehicle look left - train waits 10 sec- train starts and holds in front of you 10 sec - train starts and stops at final waypoint and holds for ever - have fun ! Hold at start 10sec-Hold halfway 10sec-Hold forever at Last.miz Edited April 22 by waterman
