Timm Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Hi Guys, One question I have wanted to ask and that is has anyone experienced whilst flying the BS you suddenly get a picture freeze only for a couple of seconds followed by a BLUE screen with alot of info again only for a few seconds which is then followed by a complete PC re-boot. If any one else has any ideas what could cause this. It does not happen all the time just now and again. Timm “Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. It comes to us at midnight very clean. Ovenmit Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Graphics card may be overheating. Check for dust in your case as well... Win 10pro x64 | i5 2500 | 16GB RAM | GTX1060 6GB | Logitech G940 | Tir5 + TC [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Feuerfalke Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 There are 2 tools I'd recommend: GPU-Z - to watch the temperature of your graphics card and Core Temp - to watch the temperature(s) of your core(s) Check temps while idle and after playing a few minutes. If any temperature rises above 75°-85°C in this short period of time, you get an idea of what is causing the troubles. Overheating of the graphics card usually causes some graphical glitches or stutters to appear before it crashes, but that's no must. Still, my suspect is either the CPU or the motherboard's chipcooler. bumfire Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 (edited) First, go into your windows control panel, then goto system icon then if you have vista or xp click on advanced system settings and then click on the advanced tab and at the bottom of that you will see startup and recovery, click on the settings button, in there under system failure untick automatically restart, so the next time you get the blue screen error, it wont auto reboot on you and you will be able to tell us what info is displayed in the error and that will help us narrow down the problem. Usually the info contained in the blue screen error will pinpoint what has caused the error in the first place, so next time it happens, write down what the error is and post it and usually it will put you on the right track to a fix. No point in speculating what the problem could be, as it could be a million things ranging from bad software to bad hardware, so I wont speculate until you post what the error says. Banquo Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Hi Timm, If you have a Sapphire 4870 512mb card please see my post in the problems and bugs section. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=43478 If not I wish you all the best in finding an answer
Timm Posted July 19, 2009 Author Posted July 19, 2009 Hi Banquo, I got Geforce 8800GT card. I only get this prob when playing BS, but not all the time may get once a week then again not for another 3 weeks or more just spooks me. I play GRID as well which to me is a big graphic user but have no probs at all. Timm “Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. It comes to us at midnight very clean. EtherealN Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Note that the RAM sticks can also cause similar issues if they are overheating. Unfortunately, only few RAMsticks have temperature monitors. Another RAM-centered possibility is that the gold plating on the contacts may have become dirty - even if only so little that it wouldn't be visible if you take the sticks off. Removing and reinsterting them usually removes the problem (scratches through the dirt and re-establishes proper contact). There is also a possibility that specific sectors on the RAMsticks have started to malfunction, in which case your sticks will soon have to be replaced. Next time it happens, try to catch the error code given in the bluescreen. It's a long series of zeroes with a number at the end, f.ex. Cx00000000050. That can give clues. Windows should have error logs that can show this as well if you aren't quick enough.
