Roosterfeet Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Has anyone found the ideal time to kiss off the AI and break? My wingman keeps getting in my way in the groove and we both get waved off. I suspect I'm flying too loose of a pattern but it's hard to troubleshoot what I'm doing when I don't know exactly when to kiss off and when to break for the best timing with the AI. 5800x3D, rtx4070, Quest3 (sometimes)

Check your kneeboard page 10 "Recovery Procedures" point 9. When you've been given 'Charlie' from tower, approach the carrier and fly over it at 800 ft / 350 kts. Your wingman will fly really tight with you now. When you're 1/2 to 1 mile ahead of the carrier, kiss off your wingman, then make your hard left turn pulling 3.5G initially. Your wingman will continue straight, then break into his left turn a bit further out. null 1
IceyJones Posted April 1 Posted April 1 i normally kiss off at 0.7 miles after passing the carrier and break immediately. you really need to fly a 100% correct pattern and not be fumbling around. your groove time must also be more in the 12-14 second realm to not get your wingman waved off as you are still in the FOUL area. he REALLY is flying a tight pattern and comes in quick. exit the runway immediately.... i have to rewatch a replay yet, so I don't know, now many seconds behind us the wingman starts his break, but it for sure is really quick
