Welcome to the Virtual Carrier Task Force 58!

✈️ What We’re About
vCTF-58 launched earlier this year, riding the wave of excitement surrounding the long-awaited release of the F4U Corsair and the promise of more Pacific War content coming to DCS. From the very beginning, our mission has been clear: to build a historically-inspired, immersive WWII experience centered on the iconic operations of Task Force 58 in the Pacific Theater.

We're a dedicated community of virtual aviators and war history enthusiasts who aim to bring the Pacific War to life—one mission at a time. Through publicly available research and a deep respect for the Naval and Marine Corps legacy of WWII, we strive to recreate the era with authenticity, camaraderie, and a shared love for aviation history in DCS.

🎖️ Why Task Force 58?
Task Force 58 participated in major battles like Operation Forager and the Philippine Sea, giving us a wide range of mission possibilities. While we do not represent any one particular Marine or Navy squadron, with each mission will come custom liveries to celebrate and authentically represent those who historical fought during those battles.

Now that the long awaited F4U-1D Corsair has officially released, and with it, an Essex Class Carrier and the Marianas WWII map, we are actively building missions using the correct assets to make for exciting new videos and content for everyone to enjoy.

Join Us!
We have 2 tiers available:

⚓ Fleet:
- Open to anyone who joins
- access to our discussion on discord and participate in research for future mission creation
- exclusive shared media as part of the community

🇺🇸 Squadron:
- What we expect from squadron members:

Minimum requirements:
- Be 18 years or older
- have appropriate equipment (HOTAS, VR / Face/head tracker)
- Own either the F4U-1D Corsair, or F6F Hellcat (upon release)
- Own the Marianas WWII Map (Free), WWII Assets Pack, WWII Pacific Assets Pack (upon release)
- Be familiar with all systems of the aircraft you choose to fly. (startup, takeoff/landing, weapons, emergency procedures)

Preferred skills: (these skills can be taught, but would be required to fly with us regularly)
- Fly in cruise/tactical formations
- Carrier Takeoff and Landing Procedures (WWII)
- Proper radio discipline
- navigation skills (dead reckoning)

These will be required to participate in multi-phase recreations of Operation Forager and other major Pacific campaigns. We’re building a foundation now so that when those modules drop, we’re ready for full-scale immersion.

What to expect from us, when you become a squadron member:
- Solo missions and group mini-campaigns for continuous engagement, simulating life in the Marianas during WWII.
- Large-scale campaigns like Operation Forager, simulating the Battle for the Marianas. (Scheduled activity)
- Dedicated time for community training and mentoring
- Immersive features, including a limited F10 maps, custom navigation tools, and dynamic battlefield elements

If you're passionate about aviation history, enjoy squadron-based operations, or just want to fly with a tight-knit community in a rich, authentic WWII setting—come fly with vCTF-58. Together, we’re building the ultimate Pacific War experience in DCS.

Larger Campaigns are still in development. Upon release of the official modules is when we will start hosting these types of Campaigns. Until then, most of us fly Wednesday's and Friday's, doing small missions and training with what we have. If you'd like to know more or follow the progress we've been making, feel free to drop by our discord!

Thanks Foxtrot, what time on W & F do you gather?

We are located in different timezones so we have UTC +1, +2, -5, -8. A good time would be 1700 UTC on Friday. Usually evenings for U.S. W & F.

Hello everyone! With the recent addition of the Corsair and the Marianas WWII Map, we are actively working on updating our maps and server with the added content. Our current focus is aircraft and asset familiarization and potentially some historically inspired missions revolving around late 1944 and VMF squadrons located at Orote airfield. Links will be updated when they go live again. Thank you for your consideration.

Well I'm glad y'all are updating, just downloaded DCS again last night and I'm out of space for modules lol. I'll be trying to free up some room for now, and looks like I'll have to upgrade this old beast in the very near future

Are you still active and recruiting?

Yes we are! We are making significant changes to how we are running things. Once we've made our new home, a new discord link will be posted and you can join us there. If you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to post here or message me directly. Thanks for your interest!
