Kattern Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Good day, I'm currently using a low-budget combo: AI.Track OpenTrack Camera Logitech HD Webcam C270 I have to admit that it works better than I thought, in fact it's mainly what made me come back to flying after a long break (IL2, MFS2024, DCS) and got me seriously interested in DCS itself. The fact that I have a free HAT for other shortcuts is also cool :-) I have 2 questions: Now it's a bit problematic to look down at the side panels (left and right) - AI.Track is losing the shape of my face - I don't know if I would be able to switch buttons there in some Full Fidelity model. BTW - I'm currently playing Flaming Cliffs 2024, maybe that's why the switch descriptions seem a bit blurry... -------------------------------------------- HUD - the data on the HUD when "zooming" the head to it is still small, their size does not change, otherwise, when I zoom with the mouse, then they are bigger and it looks correct, they are more legible. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MAIN QUESTION - does it look just as bad in real head-trackers (TrackIr, Delanclip Fusion Pro etc.)? Do these problems occur (apart from slightly blurred button descriptions) also after spending a large amount of money? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, even my cheap head tracking changed a lot, I regret not having tried it earlier :-) Best regards! SharpeXB Posted April 7 Posted April 7 I can’t speak to those other solutions but TrackIR is the gold standard for head tracking. Unless you are severely budget conscious or live outside the US (I see you’re in Poland) where it’s sometimes very expensive TrackIR is certainly worth the cost. It works right out of the box and presents no trouble looking in extreme directions like down at side panels. Yes it’s also adjustable but I’ve hardly ever found a reason to mess with it. Face tracking seems inherently problematic. A HUD is fixed at infinity so leaning your virtual head towards it will not make it bigger. The “zoom view” with the mouse will make everything larger since it’s just changing your FOV, that’s a different thing. i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
MAXsenna Posted April 7 Posted April 7 @Kattern What Sharp wrote. Personally I use the Delanclip, the metal wired one. I do not have the issues you mention, because the IR leds are seen by the camera in very steep angles, and I've tuned the curves to my liking.Cheers! Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk 1
