I was surprised to see in the pre-order video that a newer type of helmet with a target designator was chosen. This older type would have been more suitable for the MiG-29A. It would be ideal to have the option to change the trim according to the period, like in the Phantom.

What do you mean? There was only ever one HMS compatible with it

Looking good as for me

The pilot in this video is wearing a ZSh-5MKV2 helmet. The NVU-2M was attached to it through brackets at the back of the helmet, since the helmet visor moved "outside" the helmet and the attachment of the NVU-2M at the front was not possible. The ZSh7-AP helmet's visor moved "inside" the helmet, and the NVU-2M could be attached to the front.

It would be a cool option to have both helmets available in DCS.

Thanks for the clarification, I'll add that one of the versions of the target designator for the ZSh-7AP is called NVU-7 and not NVU-2M.

Officially, ED doing strange MiG-29 mix that have Soviet cockpit and radios, but irl it was exported to Germany and sold for 1$ per jet to Poland after USSR left DDR. It seems like there should be western radio, tacan, and western helmet irl. But, seems like this western Fulcrum more Soviet then we all think.

The cockpit used by ED is from a Slovak former Czechoslovak aircraft, but you probably know that.

It seems that they're essentially doing the East German MiGs as they were pre-unification (Polish skins notwithstanding). Also, Germans didn't really modify their MiGs all that much when they came into NATO, the most drastic alteration came in Polish service.

They were exported to East Germany, where they had the Soviet cockpit and radios. Western radio, TACAN etc. were built in after the reunification to fit the NATO standards.
