BluesRocket Posted April 12 Posted April 12 I'm relatively new to VR and have been gradually getting myself used to it on a Quest 3 as I begin to learn the F-16 and later the F-4. The resolution leaves something to be desired though although it's smooth at default settings (I haven't tweaked any of my hardware since I don't really understand the changes to make). Lower than expected resolution is a bit of a bummer. Anyhow, after seeing videos of the high resolution seen in the Pimax models, I'm sold. For DCS, which of the current models would work best with my system (signature has the specs)? I appreciate any feedback. Thanks! Solution Nedum Posted April 12 Solution Posted April 12 Hi, every system from Pimax will be better, as long as it has local dimming and Eye Tracking. You can lower the resolution of the HS if needed, and you will always get a much better image the Q3 can handle too you. And with the 72 FPS mode and Eye Tracking, it will always run as smooth as the Quest 3. The question is more like: "How much are you willing to pay for it?" I'm waiting for my Crystal Super 50 PPD. Nearly 130° horizontal FoV. Can't wait for it. Better local dimming than my current Crystal, much brighter, better colors, smaller, less weight, without any battery, I am so excited. 2 CPU: AMD Ryzen 7950X3D, System-RAM: 64 GB DDR5, GPU: nVidia 4090, Monitor: LG 38" 3840*1600, VR-HMD: Pimax Crystal, OS: Windows 11 Pro, HD: 2*2TB Samsung M.2 SSD HOTAS Throttle: TM Warthog Throttle with TM F16 Grip, Orion2 Throttle with F15EX II Grip with Finger Lifts HOTAS Sticks: Moza FFB A9 Base with TM F16 Stick, FSSB R3 Base with TM F16 Stick Rudder: WinWing Orion Metal
TimberWolf Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Unless you are willing to buy used, there is no struggling with decisions. There is currently only ONE model for sale: Crystal Light. You can order the Crystal Super, but it has only just been released, and there is a year's worth of pre-orders ahead of you. You would be lucky to get one within a couple of months. All other models are out of stock, and have been for a while. Sim Rig: Intel 12700KF, MSI RTX4090, 32GB DDR4@3200, Quest 3 headset, TM Warthog HOTAS, MFG Crosswind pedals

For DCS I would def recommend the Super because it has eyetracking and you can make great use of Quad Views.

Shame Calvin doesn't have the same information, never mind certainty, he was unable to answer my question about when a December order might be shipped.
Panny Posted April 15 Posted April 15 I wish there was a way to trial the Super. I really liked with the Crystal I could walk into a shop and try it for myself first before committing such a large sum of money. 1 Website | Digital Coalition Air Force | Discord CPU: AMD R9950X \ Mobo: MSI MPG X670E Gaming Carbon WiFi \ RAM: Corsair Vengeance 96GB 6000MT/s \ GPU: RTX 5090 \ Various SSDs
