I am trying to create a mission with NAV points in addition to way points. I have tried to save these but have been unsuccessful up to this point. Below is the basic steps that I have done.

1) start mission up in the Mission Editor (ME)

2) Use the Prepare Mission feature.

3) enter the helo

4) set PV-800 to edit mode

5) Press the NAV (OT) button

6) enter the LAT/LON coordinates for the different NAV points.

7) put PVI-800 back in Operate mode

8 ) Take ABRIS to the MENU\CTRL\DTB area

9) Press SAVE button

10) go to the Additional Data line

11) Press SAVE

Go out and fly. At this point the NAV points are in the PVI-800 and show up on the ABRIS.

12) Close mission and return to ME

13) Save mission in ME

14) Exit ME

15) Restart ME, load the mission and try the NAV points. They are not loaded.

HELP!!

Can some one tell me what I'm doing wrong. I say that I've read the manual, but obviously I didn't read it correctly.

Thanks,

Hi Clutter.

You have to read closely and follow the steps exactly. From your discription, you did not enter any of the setup modes beforehand(?) You have to tell the database to save the added info you put in or it won't do it. I believe it is the CTRL FSK button, then SETUP then DTB. Move through the list with the up and down arrow FSKs and hit save. Save anything it will let you.

Any info you do succesfully add will not show up in the other helos until it is loaded under the Plan menu. Sorry if a bit vague, but it has been awhile since I prepared missions. You don't hear much about this subject as no one seems to do it. Shame, as it makes the sim so much better when it is used (the prepare mission option). The option to load flight plans and a very clean and useful briefing are often overlooked in mission building.

After reading a bit more.. I see you may be talking about entering PVI Lat/Long data? If you are adding waypoints into the PVI-800, it will not save those and they must be added by the pilot after a new flightplan is loaded (doing the work of the ground crew). One very bad point is the AP will not automatically follow the flightplan as it treats each waypoint as an 'end route' waypoint and the pilot has to manually change WPs as they pass them. Perhaps this is a bug.

All,

Problem solved! Thanks to Mbot!

My problem was that I was trying to do the correct think, and looking in all the wrong places. Since the button on the PVI-800 is labeled as NAV Targets, I had assumed that these were NAV points. What I was missing, and Mbot cleared up was that these are actually target points, associated with targets for the helo. These are entered in the ME when you assign targets to your helo. If you press the NAV Target button on the BP, and then a corresponding number, the coordinates will show, the HSI carrot will point in the heading to fly to that point, and it shows up on the ABRIS as a blue box.

Thanks to all for helping.
