sweinhart3 Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I like the weather implementation that Ive seen so far but I have a couple questions about it. In the missions Ive played so far with fog at low altitudes, a couple times I tried to find the ceiling and fly above the clouds but even after 5km altitude with no breaks I have to ask if cloud/wind layers are not modeled like they are in FSX? I havent noticed any wind gusts at certain altitudes while not others and I havent seen cloud breaks in some areas while its thick in other areas. I also noticed that when its raining none of the water seems to land on the windshield making the windshield wipers tho functional, irrelevant. Will a more advanced weather system be modeled later? nemises Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 The quikest / best way to get an understanding of the weather system would be to go into the mission editor and playing with the weather settings... I believe you can set the cloud / fog base and height ... I also believe the wind is in 3 discreet layers where you can set direction and strength and 3 different altitudes (fixed). As for the Rain / snow effects on the windshield, it has been discussed, and is a limitation of the current engine. A new engine is beeing developed , but ED has not shared any information about it so far, as I believe it is only early stages yet. The TFC engine is beeing modified as DCS versions come out, but things like that are unlikely to change untill the new engine is further along ... at least, thats what I've read...
