This has been happening for a while. I use TrackIR, when I fly at night and after I look up from inside the cockpit. All lighting other than HMCS, completely blacks out for random amount of time. I've included tracks from both the Viper and Hornet demonstrating it. Since it gets worse the longer I'm in game. It doesn't happen every time I look up in these tracks because I just spawned in. But, you'll notice the HMCS dims when it happens but is still perfectly visible. But, the cockpit lighting goes black. The longer I'm in game it gets to the point where the blackout lasts so long, that I crash. I also included a screen recording just in case it doesn't happen on your system. Which I don't think it's my PC, seeing as it was happening on my old PC also.

Don't know why ED won't offer help.

Others have run into this problem before. There's another recent thread floating around on it but can't find it.

There is also a VR specific problem where the opposite happens, where opening F10 leads to the lighting going way too bright for a while.

It appears to be HDR misfiring at a guess. Not the type of HDR found in monitors or in the system settings etc, it's the lighting technique used in gaming to brighten/darken scenes as you transition between light/dark areas.

The kind of adaptive lighting/gamma system they have has always had some odd quirks imo, I wish we could disable it in the options.
