Pitch & Roll Axis Force Gradient On or Off for the WINWING Orion2 ViperAce(EX) Joystick

In DCS in the Options window under the Special TAB for the F16, should the Pitch & Roll Axis Force Gradient be checked on or off.  I am using the WINWING Orion2 ViperAce(EX) Joystick. This is the Non Force Feedback.

Minor note. WW has not released their force feedback base yet. You're confusing force sensing with force feedback. Quite the difference. 😉

I've turned off the deadzones and set the sliders to 0 on my NON-WW stick. Play around with it to find what's best for you.

Cheers!

I found a post a few days ago that recommended turning both on, but setting the dead zone to zero on the Special menu page. Then setting a small dead zone for each axis in the Control section. I  set a small, 3-5% dead zone on each axis and saw a noticeable improvement on mine.

Thank you, MAXsenna and mkdI2010, but I want to make sure I understand.  When you say set turned off deadzones, we are not talking about Axis Tuning in control settings, correct?  My other question is, what do you have your Axis Tuning settings?

In the Special menu, turn both to on and set the dead zones in that menu to Zero. Then in Axis tunings play around with a small dead zone for pitch and roll.

IMO, leave them un-tuned and symmetrical.  Yes, maybe it's hard initially, but you'll figure out how to tame it quickly.  And once you have tamed it, you have symmetrical controls which likely makes things easier down the road.  But that's just my opinion.

If you want to mess with it, in SP you can go in and out of the bindings and play with it at will, and that's likely best way to tweak it.  Try to only tweak one axis at a time so you can see what it does.  I would start by adding a little curvature to flatten the centre of the response.  Then increase if you still don't like it.  Again personal opinion, but I would avoid deadzone if at all possible as that tends to make things jerky.

To tame things down while AARing, try gripping your stick close to the base. That will tend to dampen your movements for while you're doing that while still giving you full responsiveness the rest of the time.
