You already know the answer:

  • You'll need a 5090 to drive it
  • Visuals will be a good deal clearer and with a wider FOV
  • It'll have Pimax's famous reliability baked in

7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat

"Famous" or infamous?  <wink>

The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.

I'm not sure if I want someone to persuade me to buy one or not to buy one.

Cost is a big issue as is reliability (or so it appears on this forum). That said they do appear to be very keen to develop what we need for DCS so that's a big plus.

With foveated rendering my 5080 should be OK. I run my QP at pretty high resolution settings so that I offset DLSS ghosting.

I have experience with the Crystal Super. But not with the Quest Pro. BUT here’s a list of all the headsets I have had or still have:

HTC Vive
HTC Vive Pro
HP Reverb
HP Reverb 2
Sony VR(1) - PlayStation
Sony VR 2 - PlayStation
Pimax 8KX
Meta Quest 2
Meta Quest 3
Pico 4
Pimax Crystal OG (the one with batteries and eye tracking…)
Pimax Crystal Light

And now the Pimax Crystal Super for a while…

NOT ONE of the other headsets comes even close to the Crystal Super. The Quest PRO is a very low resolution headset. Not sure how one can even start to compare them.

The Crystal Super is so sharp! All over the field of view. The Pico 4 is better when it comes to comfort and weight. But is low resolution like the others.

BUT - make sure you have the CPU and GPU to run the Super.

On paper it seems that way but in reality the QP a very good headset. I have 12 months experience with the Pico 4 and the QP is much better even though the resolution is much lower. Weirdly the screen door was effect is worse on the P4.

Ideally I need someone with significant experience with the QP who has upgraded to the super. It is a lot of money for something that seems very buggy at the moment.

How is the resolution for distant objects? Will the Crystal Super run on my specs (in signature)?
