(Pitch-) Trim speed too fast.

Haven't "flown" the F-4 in a couple of months now and decided to revisit this excellent module...

Would it be possible to adjust the trim speed to a lower setting? A tap on the trim switch results in a rather large control surface deflection hence I can never find a "perfect" (pitch-) trim setting. It often under- or over-shoots.

Thanks

The trimming behavior is implemented correct with respect to real life behavior of the aircraft. You gotta do very short taps, it was known to be wonky. The response by aircrew usually was to "just fly the aircraft".

That said, there is a Special Setting available to counter this especially for people who have hardware that physically cannot send super short impulses. Like, for some joystick even if u you click something only for a very short amount of time, the actual impulse send by the hardware to the system is much longer.

I believe it was this setting: https://f4.manuals.heatblur.se/dcs/special_options.html#stick-neutral-position-smoothing-period

(Trimming in the F-4 acts as a modifier of the lever that the bellows use to pull the stick aft as opposing force to the bobweights who push the stick forward, and is hence heavily dynamic and dependent on factors like speed and G)

Thanks for the reply. I've adjusted the values downward (they were actually set at a default of 2% and 3,5%) and it does lessen the effect of bumping the pitch trim switch.

Thanks for the back-story as well. Very interesting to read!

You can also change the trim value in the .lua/cfg file from 1 and -1 to let’s say 0.5 and -0.5….I‘ve changed it to 0.4 and respectively -0.4. Downside of this method is, that you need to change it after every update. And another hint, once you’ve changed it, you have to reassign the trim buttons again to your personal Stick.

If you need the correct path where to find this file, let me know and I’ll check it out at home.
