cankar
After watching some videos on YouTube I'm completely astonished how realistic this simulator is. I wander what is the chance that Lock On will run with my computer? It would be good to know before buying it :). If not, what improvements should I do to make it possible to run. I have a laptop: Acer Extensa 5620 Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit) Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5250 1,5 GHz RAM 1014 MB Video card: Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family Adapter String: Mobile Intel GMA X3100 Total available video memory: 251 MB Would Lock On run on this? Would Flaming Cliffs run? Is there any kind of demo one could try?
Aeroscout
I really hate to say this, but, not a chance. I mean, you could try it, but don't hold your breath... You should have a processor above 2.0GHz (2.4 or more would be better. Dual core does give some benefits) and a decent videocard (NVidia 6 series or better) and under vista, 2GB RAM is pretty much necessary. That's the minimum. Look at my Sig to see a comp running lock on somewhat decently (Though still not perfect) I used to run Lockon on a 2.0GHz Pentium 4, 512MB ram, and a 5200FX Vieo card. Ya, that sucked. If you are looking to run games, you might want to consider getting a decent desktop. Laptops are usually not the greatest things to run games on. Hope this helps, and welcome to the lockon forums! RedTiger
I had a system with less RAM, a single core Pentium IV that was just a bit faster (1.7 ghz), a geforce3 with 64mb ram on Windows XP home and I was able to run it. I'm not familiar with that video card. That might be the weakest link. It does have a lot of RAM though. You need to throw enough CPU power at LOMAC to choke a horse to get it to run super smooth. Even with lots of horse(choking)power you might be disapointed at your framerate when you make a low pass over Krasnodar. However people are officially spoiled IMO because we have the capability for this now in 2009. They forget that LOMAC was released in 2003. Check out this story, the screenshots, and the system requirements posted at the end: http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_095e.html You can run it on what you have, just not very well. I would suggest you give it a try it in the mean time while you build/buy your new PC. http://www.lockonfiles.com has a boatload of old mods that will increase the sims performance on older systems. Furthermore you can tweak a ton of stuff with Modman. You'll be stuck with low quality, no eye candy, and small missions but enough to still have fun. :)
GGTharos
The real sweet spot for LO to run quite well is a 3ghz or better processor (prefferably dual core, and ACTUALLY running at 3ghz), 2Gb of RAM and an 8800 seried video card or better.
