M1Combat Posted Wednesday at 10:20 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:20 PM Coming from an OG Vive, then Reverb, then Reverb G2. I generally like the G2, but I'm on >24H2 and AMD so no go there at least until AMD gets off their ass and supports Mr. MBucchia :(. I've tweeted them... I doubt they saw it :). I was generally set on a BSB2e (I have two OG vive base station 1.0's that should still work) but... some reviews are saying maybe they aren't as good as some pre-views made them out to be. Particularly relating to heat and face gasket sweat box issues. Many also say they're fine. My personal sensitivities in VR are ghosting, spotting WW2 birds and tracking. I've run the G2 at 45 and even 30 FPS and I just don't have issues with lower frame rates as long as the tracking is solid. I don't get nauseous with sub-par tracking, but... I LOVED the OG vive lighthouse tracking. SUPER solid and 1000% trouble free compared to my experience with the reverbs. The Reverbs were somewhat lacking in this regard compared to the old Vive. Most annoying issue was that those headsets would just start drifting sometimes. Not a HUGE problem in DCS but SUPER annoying in iRacing. I prefer to game in a dark room. I also love the colors and blacks of an OLED panel being somewhat spoiled by only having OLED's in my house now. A 65 in the living room and these three 48's on my gaming rig. Zero need for audio. I'm running a nice set of headphones/amp that I'm not getting rid of for any reason. I don't mind cutting/removing lesser speakers off the headset strap. AMD 9070XT I'm running 3x 48" LG OLEDs... 1x HDMI, 2X DPort, 1 free DPort, but I could run 3X on the DPorts if need be... but I'd lose Variable Refresh Rate on my middle monitor which I like to use for non-VR games... but this card runs most things at >=120 frames anyway so not a huge deal if I need the HDMI for the headset. If you're wondering why I'd lose VRR it's because these monitors only have HDMI ports so I'm running the two through some proper DPort to HDMI adapters that do 120Hz... but won't translate the VRR signals :(. 5800X3d 64GB Mem 2TB 990Pro M.2 SSD So... I'm looking for recommendations. I can spend maybe $1200ish give or take. BSB2E plan was to use the standard gasket and headstrap, but with the halo mount. I suspect playing in a dark room I might be able to mount the headset without the face gasket thereby completely removing the heat issues, but I'm not 1000% sure that will be viable. I'm willing to mod etc as mods become available. I'm willing to wait a little bit for headsets that are coming out soon if there's something compelling. I realize that having the 9070XT is in some ways a bit of a drawback with VR but it's pretty nice in all the other ways so... I'll def. stick with that and re-evaluate for my next GPU purchase. I've run Nvidia for a long time but fried my 3080 I had before this. Melted the wires but they were old. I should have checked them more often. TLDR - AMD 9070XT, 5800X3d, Have lighthouses, plenty of gaming rig, would like 100% solid tracking preferably in a darkish room, no need for audio, display hz are fine not sensitive to that... Whatever there was more go read it LOL... Thanks in advance Nvidia RTX3080 (HP Reverb), AMD 3800x Asus Prime X570P, 64GB G-Skill RipJaw 3600 Saitek X-65F and Fanatec Club-Sport Pedals (Using VJoy and Gremlin to remap Throttle and Clutch into a Rudder axis)
RealDCSpilot Posted yesterday at 06:45 AM Posted yesterday at 06:45 AM Reading the specs of Pimax's DreamAir series caught my attention. It basically kills the BSB2E on all aspects. I'm waiting for someone releasing a small lightweight, high quality and high fov headset for years now and what started with BSB and Shiftall MeganeX seems to move in the right direction. 1 i9 13900K @5.5GHz, Z790 Gigabyte Aorus Master, RTX4090 Waterforce, 64 GB DDR5 @5600, PSVR2, Pico 4 Ultra, HOTAS & Rudder: all Virpil with Rhino FFB base made by VPforce, DCS: all modules

Check out the preview branch of Oasis that just dropped. They've had trouble with the G1, but G2 supposedly works. It won't necessarily be perfect, but that could keep you going with the Reverb for a while longer.
