Found work around to get an Icon on a locked target...possible bug?

So one thing I don't like about the real life MiG-29 is that when you lock a target and you want to employ missiles, instead of like on other 4rth gen fighters (or the FC3 MiG-29s) where you would get a box, or circle, or a dot (or some other icon) highlighting the target directly on your HUD you instead have have a steering circle, and a diamond to show where the radar is pointing, and this diamond does not adjust for the roll of your aircraft if your trying to follow it. like in the picture below. This means that sometimes your not sure which target you've locked for certain, and it takes a fair bit of time and guess work to determine if the speck your looking at is the one you locked, especially if your firing into a furball environment.

HOWEVER**

There is a work around. You do get a circle highlighting the actual target when you pull the trigger into the first detent like if you were employing guns if you have a current radar lock, and your inside a certain distance. typically outside of 50km you will just get the gun funnel if you press the first detent. However if you close to within 30km it will flicker from the gun funnel to the circle with the locked target. Then once inside 30km you will just get the circle around the locked target like in the picture below:Digital Combat Simulator Black Shark Screenshot 2025.09.20 - 21.18.38.22.png

This is currently handy if you want to actually know where on the hud is the actual target that you locked up is.

Now I'm not sure if this is a current bug, and the ranges are way off for this to appear, or if this is something that actually was possible with the system, and could be used as a work around.

Interested to see.

Yes the ranges are off……… but I like it 😉

At what range should it work though? Because at some point you will get the icon, that your to line up with the other reticle that is to appear at 1.2km

IRL gun circle should cover target at 1600m

Might still use it for now until coop mode is working properly so that I can employ R27R at targets inside 15km more reliably The vertical scan close combat mode radar mode really has trouble locking beaming targets, and you can't slave radar to any of the other close combat modes at the moment.

What you say is very useful. Although the radar is very ineffective, and as a colleague says, it can't lock onto the target at short vertical distances, and when a high-aspect contact approaches, the radar loses contact even if you have the contact locked, the radar is well-oriented, and the missile has been fired. I think there's an error with the close-range radar.

Very good tip. Thank you.
