F4u-1D Controls Setup question

Recommended Posts

HI all,

Just starting to setup my controls and have some questions.  Specifically with the Cowl Flaps, Oil Cooler, Propeller RPM.

Fr0om watching Reflected Sim videos, I have the impression that these should be assigned to a hat for graduated control rather than a on/off button/switch. I have that but can't tell if it is working as intended.  When I press the "Open" switch, the handle moves forward, but when I releasee the button, the handle moves to the middle.

1) Is this correct behavior?
2) Is there any indication how far "open" the Oil cooler and Cowl flaps are "Open" (e.g.2/3rds open)?

Thanks in advance.

This is the correct behavior.  They are all switches, not proportional levers.

Right in front of the handles are two indicators for oil and intercooler positions.  Cowl flap position is done with the eyeball since the cowl flaps are visible from the cockpit.

That's the case for the cowl flaps, oil cooler, and intercooler. However the propeller governor is a positional lever that functions like the throttle handle. It would be most accurate to map it to an axis if you have one available.

Thanks.  I'll give that a try.
