Hi,

firstly I’d like to say that I love this module and all heatblur modules and appreciate all the work!

I know it has been mentioned in the past that the pilot head lags in the mirror in VR. It works perfectly fine in the F-14, or the latest ED release MiG29.
It has been dismissed in the past that it is a conscious decision to avoid quick head movements.

I do not quite understand why the head movement is perfectly synchronized in the F14 or MIg29A, but in the F4 it is still lagging. Please, if you do not want to change it to completely synchronized like in the other modules, give the player an option for that. It still breaks immersion to see the pilot head movement in the mirror lag behind real movements. Again, I’d like to emphasize the fact that it‘s perfect in the F14, another heatblur module.

please take a look into this again.

again thanks for this wonderful module!

Hey there, this is an already reported issue, cheers.

It was done on purpose to prevent silly looking abrupt and jumping animations as can be seen in those other modules you referenced. It will be revisited and improved eventually.

You mentioned that you are aware of the previous posts on this topic, so I am not sure why you are creating a new one. FYI that wont speed up things, cheers.

I couldn't find the previous post, hence the new one. Thanks, good to know it will be revisited eventually. Btw, I've been flying in VR for years mostly the F14 and never noticed any jumping animations that would throw me off. Sounds like there are two types of sensitive people, one to jumping animations, others to laggy image 🙂

I appreciate this topic coming up again, because your previous responses say it works as intended.   Personally, the explanation for the desirability of this reflection behavior don’t make any sense to me in light of the perfect mirror behavior of fhe F-14 and  Viggen.  I haven’t seen any VR users say this is a desirable feature in the F-4.   In fact, it’s vertigo inducing and uncomfortable in VR.   I don’ fly this module anymore because this, along with the lagging stick movement responses, create a very uncomfortable VR experience, unlike any other module in DCS.

I guess what I’m hoping to see in this thread is an acknowledgement that mirror lag is a problem, not a solution to a problem I didn’t realize existed in any other HB module.  That’s why hearing your response as a HB representative saying that this issue has been previously reported, but that it’s working as intended, is not comforting.  It’s just saying that HB aren’t going to change it because it’s by design.

I’m giving HB user feedback saying this particular design choice is creating some pretty significant problems, and solving none (at least based on not experiencing reflection problems in other modules).   If HB is solving a problem with this reflection behavior, it’s completely unclear to me what the problem actually is, at least based your current explanation.

I also have reported the laggy stick behaviour in the vertical axis before. I have an FFB stick and it doesn't make sense that I do not FEEL any resistance on the stick while on the ground, yet in the airplane the stick moves like the pilot has to exert so much strength that the stick can only move slowly. Or if it is truly that hard to move the stick while there are no aerodynamic forces, maybe it could be added to the FFB behaviour. I understand how it can be immersion breaking even without the FFB.

And to second that, I also think there is no problem with F-14 mirror design and it's much preferable both for immersion and comfort.

Not sure why you guys conclude "HB say its intended, they wont fix it" when I keep saying the opposite.

Sorry if the messages have not been clear enough, so let me try it one more time:

The current behavior is "working as expected" but that doesnt mean that it won't be improved/changed. As I keep repeating, it is on the list and it will eventually receive another pass so that the lag is gone.

Please do not misinterpret that some things take longer than you want for lack of interest or willingness to change and improve something.

Please accept my apology,  because I see now that you were clear in your first response saying that it would be revisited and improved.

It seems the combination of me responding before having my morning coffee, and my memory of previous discussion of this topic, led me to not read and comprehend what you plainly stated above.

As far as how long it takes, I’m content to wait until you guys can devote the time needed to the issue.  HB has a long history of continuously improving their modules, so I’m confident it will eventually be addressed.
