SimHog Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago A general rule I follow is when ever I "upgrade", whether it's the OS or hardware, I always do a fresh install of Windows. 2 AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D @4.2Ghz | MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk | ADATA XPG 64GB 6000MHz CL30 DDR5 | Team Cardea A440 Pro M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD 2TB | Sapphire NITRO+ RX 7900 XTX Vapor-X| PIMAX Crystal Light

nephilimborn Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago I plan on not moving to w11 for as long as possible and as such reliance upon PLasso; however that choice is likely not the best advice when adopting of newer hardware e.g. CPU chipsets 1 i7-13700KF; RTX-4090; 64GB RAM; Quest3 & PimaxCL; Virpil CM3 + VKB Gunfighter Mk.IV MCE-Ultimate + VKB T-Rudder Mk.Vl; Windows10 (F*ckOff W11)
SimHog Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago (edited) If anyone is hesitant on Win 11, you can still run Windows 10 until 2032 with official security updates by using Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/windows-10-iot-enterprise-ltsc-2021 https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/download-windows-10-enterprise Edited 15 hours ago by SimHog 2 AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D @4.2Ghz | MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk | ADATA XPG 64GB 6000MHz CL30 DDR5 | Team Cardea A440 Pro M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD 2TB | Sapphire NITRO+ RX 7900 XTX Vapor-X| PIMAX Crystal Light
QuiGon Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) Europeans (at least those living within the European Economic Area, which is most of Europe) still get extended support for Win10 for another year for free: https://uk.pcmag.com/migrated-3765-windows-10/160269/microsofts-windows-10-extension-is-now-absolutely-free-in-europe Edited 10 hours ago by QuiGon 1 Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

Even when going from one subversion to the next - if it’s a major update (every other year) - e.g. from 23H2 to 24H2 it’s best to do a full reinstall. M$ does large functionality updates every other year, so for 25H2 a fresh install isn’t needed, but next year for 26H2 it will be again. ”needed” = HIGHLY recommended 1 Spoiler Ryzen 7 9800X3D | 96GB G.Skill Ripjaws M5 Neo DDR5-6000 | Asus ProArt RTX 4080 Super | ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E GAMING | Samsung 990Pro 2TB + 990Pro 4TB NMVe | VR: Varjo Aero VPC MT-50CM2 grip on VPForce Rhino with Z-extension | VPC CM3 throttle | VPC CP2 + 3 | FSSB R3L | VPC Rotor TCS Plus base with SharKa-50 grip | Everything mounted on Monstertech MFC-1 | VPC R1-Falcon pedals with damper | Pro Flight Trainer Puma OpenXR | PD 1.0 | 100% render resolution | DCS graphics settings Win11 Pro 24H2 - VBS/HAGS/Game Mode ON
Richi Posted 57 minutes ago Posted 57 minutes ago I have Win 11 for over a year, and I have no noticeable problem with DCS in 2D. Except that the GPU is running at 95-99%, but that's probably the same for everyone.
