gazcrowbar Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Me and my friend wish to host a game over the internet however we are unable to do so. We can both join another persons server but if either of us make a server then the other cant join. Can anyone help?
nemises Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Hi Gaz, Whoever is going to host the game will need to make sure to Port Forward TCP and UDP 10308 on your router. By setting this up, you are telling your router to allow incoming traffic on those ports (blackshark traffic) , and also to forward that traffic to the specific internal IP address of your PC. If you're not sure what this means, or what to do, come back and post the type of router you / your friend has, and we can be a bit more specific about how to do it :) ..alternatively, have a bit of a google about port forwarding / NAT.. good luck!
gazcrowbar Posted August 26, 2009 Author Posted August 26, 2009 thanks for the reply, my friend has tried opening ports but i will have to check this as it may not be so. i am connected directly to a modem.
gazcrowbar Posted August 27, 2009 Author Posted August 27, 2009 Can anyone help my friend apparently has opened the port.
nemises Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Hi Gaz, Here are exact instructions as to how to forward the ports needed on that router: http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Netgear/DG834/Lock_On_Modern_Air_Combat.htm Once he has opened the ports correctly and has hosted a mission you should either 1) see his server show up in the Multiplayer browser (you might need to wait a few minutes..keep hitting "new search" or... 2) click "directly connect", and then put in his EXTERNAL ip address.. he can find out what his EXTERNAL IP is by going to : http://www.whatismyip.com/ Good luck!.. If you guys are still having trouble, jump on the 104th Phoenix Teamspeak server, and we'll try to help out... I should be on (much) later, but most folks there will also be able to help out. (find the teamspeak details at http://www.104thphoenix.com , sorry to all for site spam, but it's legit!)
gazcrowbar Posted August 28, 2009 Author Posted August 28, 2009 Here's an update- We have set up port forwarding correctly and now we can connect via the connect to ip function in black shark to each others server. However we cannot see the others server in the server browser. Thanks for all the help.
dragony Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Did you wait enough time for your server to be updated with master server? From experience, you may need up to five minutes before your server shows up in games list. WBR, =FV=BlackDragon. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
gazcrowbar Posted August 29, 2009 Author Posted August 29, 2009 Ah ok. Will try that and let you know, could be the problem!
ED Team c0ff Posted August 29, 2009 ED Team Posted August 29, 2009 Did you wait enough time for your server to be updated with master server? From experience, you may need up to five minutes before your server shows up in games list. It should show up immediately. Ah ok. Will try that and let you know, could be the problem! Did you set the server type to 'Internet'? 'LAN' servers do not get into the master list. Dmitry S.
