Why does DCS take just as long to shutdown as it does to startup??  It wouldn't be an issue if it didn't Hijack the monitor with a backscreen during the shutdown process!  I don't actually care why it does it.. I just want it fixed so it does not.

Agreed!
This has been happening since Multithreaded implementation. Single Threaded didn't had this issue, only on DCS MT executable.

2 monitors here. Second monitor responds normally. I can open a browser window meanwhile DCS is "shutting down" and there is not much CPU and Storage activity when this happen. 64gb Ram here.

It would be nice if it behaved like ST did when closing DCS.

The black screen only appears in 2D, in VR it's not there.
Also, if you bring up the ingame FPS counter (and game data) and leave it active while exiting, it's still displayed as long as the black screen is visible.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

For the multithreading model, all threads must join back to the main process in order to terminate them for the graceful program exit.
