AeriaGloria Posted Saturday at 04:01 AM Posted Saturday at 04:01 AM (edited) Hello, I have target altitude set in both these tracks and aimed close to the target altitude point. In SP it is dead on, with MP it is always short. Idk what going on. Perhaps it user error, but I’m trying to set DTC exactly the same both in SP and MP and yet in MP it’s consistently short of target. I guess the MP track is too large for this post, it id in the 3rd post of this thread Otherwise I am extremely happy with the air to ground behavior!! AeriaGloria Posted Saturday at 04:27 AM Author Posted Saturday at 04:27 AM Here is another MP mission track, though this one seems to show a smaller error. The last bomb drop is with pre designation to correct for wind to try and show the “short” impact of the bomb better LastMissionTrack.trk Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com

Ornithopter Posted Saturday at 02:42 PM Posted Saturday at 02:42 PM (edited) There are lots of posts and threads on this subject, so apologies if I'm not up to speed. I thought that the airplane either gets the slant range from the laser, or else, computes it trigonometrically with radar altitude and body angle. Now we're back to having to input some target altitude in the DTC, but only in MP? I thought that was previously fixed. Edited Saturday at 02:42 PM by Ornithopter

It seems work correctly from what I read If laser sees ground, it uses laser range If laser doesn’t see ground, it uses “slant range to set target altitude.” Which means that, if you don’t set a target altitude in DTC, only CCIP will be accurate for you and CCRP won’t becuase as soon as the target goes 15 degrees below your nose your laser can’t range it. And with set target altitude, your CCRP will only be accurate for targets around that altitude Combat manual seems to say “it uses elevation method when there is no laser range” so it seems correct. Just something making it “short” in MP. But this way you can also do CCRP from extreme distances, just not in MP right now it seems. Laser will not work within 3500m. AeriaGloria Posted yesterday at 05:29 AM Author Posted yesterday at 05:29 AM I did a CCIP launch in MP today without laser and it was also short. Renaming thread as it’s clear with this “target altitude” related. Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
