vladimusmaximus Posted November 17 Posted November 17 I've got a Herman Miller Embody; there's no way to mount anything to it. I've looked at all other chair options and given I use my computer a LOT for work; I cannot afford to mess up my back. I've had this chair for over 10 years, and never had a single complaint/sore back day in this decade. It's saved my back! The issue. I really want t a Virpil collective; mounted beside me? To my left. I've ordered Predator mounts for my STECS/AB9. I'm thinking I may have to custom create a T stand of sorts (like a type of speaker stand) that goes up max 18-20" which appears to be the perfect base height for me for the collective. Flat bottom, maybe few 2x4's for the column, and a flat top panel for mounting? Anyone had any luck with something like this? I'd like it to be stable, but portable. So I can move it out of the way if I'm not using it. Put it away.
Baldrick33 Posted November 17 Posted November 17 The problem will be portability, as you will likely pull the stand off the floor when you pull on the collective. My original mounting was a simple wooden structure screwed into the false floor I had for my rig. I currently use the Virpil mount attached to my chair using the bolts where the chair base attaches to the seat. I understand you don’t have that option with your chair. I guess if the stand is weighted enough it would work but I think it would need some serious weight. The only thing I could think of doing would be to have a piece if wood under you chair which you could attached a wooden structure to mount the collective, given the wooden base would be held down by the weight of the chair and you. It might be getting a bit large to store away though. Otherwise it may be to find a way of attaching the Virpil base with self tappers into the seat base but you may not wish to entertain this idea!
