Madman1 Posted Wednesday at 08:20 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:20 PM At the beginning of Retaking Kolubeti I get a message saying "Set your radios to COMM 1 to Channel 3 and COMM 2 to channel 2." What does that mean and how do I do that? I've only ever used SRS.
Yurgon Posted Wednesday at 09:06 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:06 PM Where can that mission be found? It's not part of the module as far as I'm aware. The terminology is also non-standard; "COMM 1" and "COMM 2" sound like Navy terms for the Hornet's radios, whereas the 3 radios in the A-10C are typically referred to by name, position or frequency range/modulation: ARC-210 / Front (A-10C Legacy module: ARC-186 / Front / VHF AM / Alpha Mike / Victor) ARC-164 / Mid / UHF / Uniform ARC-186 / Aft / VHF FM / Fox / Fox Mike Presumably, you're supposed to set the ARC-210 to PRST channel 3, and the ARC-164 to PRESET channel 2. Both radio control heads have a mode selector with MAN/MNL and PRST/PRESET positions. Rather obviously, to work with presets these need to go to the PRESET position and then you can select presets 3 / 2 respectively via the preset channel selector knobs. For the ARC-210, you can also be lazy, type 3 into the UFC and then hit the COM 1 key on the UFC. The top left corner of the HUD should then show "V1/3", indicating that preset 3 is selected for the first ARC-210 radio. Since our A-10C II module only has one ARC-210, the "COM 2" button on the UFC serves no purpose (other than toggling the "V2/NC" indication in the HUD). The ARC-210 control head should reflect the selected preset (regardless of the position of the mode selector switch) and also show its frequency. 1

So do you consider the question answered? Looks like the mission creator anticipated this and even added the link to a suitable YouTube video in the mission description.
Madman1 Posted Friday at 05:04 AM Author Posted Friday at 05:04 AM Yeah, answered well. What was tripping me up was the "COMM 1" message which, as you say is not standard A-10C jargon. Once I understood what the author meant by that and acted accordingly the missing parts of the mission fell into place. Thanks a bunch. 1
